Why why why??? (intelligent design)
http://www.natcenscied.org/

On July 2 House Bill 4946 was introduced in the Michigan House of Representatives and referred to the Education Committee. This bill would amend Michigan's school code to require the state board of education to modify its science standards to include the idea of "intelligent design of a Creator" wherever evolution is mentioned.

1. American Taliban.
Let these people get away with it and pretty soon we'll have segregated schools, gay death camps, re-neducation centers, and Ronald Reagan on Rushmore (after they get done blowing up those liberal presidents.)

2. For the same reason that
they passed a bill somewhere that requires women seeking abortions be advised of the cancer risk, even though the American Cancer Society acknowledges no such risk.

They live in a delusional state. If you change any one thing, the entire delusion breaks and they would have to think for themselves, which would be hell on Earth.

9. Did he hurt your feelings
Poor baby. He didn't bash you. He attacked your belief. That is the difference. If you attacked my lack of belief the moderates would be just as silent.

Quit playing the victim. Christainity is not being persecuted in America.

hehehe you people are so funny. You jump to all these conclusions instead of reading. All I did was point out that it looked like preaching....and it does.

Thanks and good night.

Edited on Thu Jul-31-03 05:26 PM by enki23
you aren't thin skinned. you've got no skin at all. cry wolf too many times, and you won't be taken seriously. cry wolf when you're nibbled by a six-ounce puppy, and you won't be taken seriously *the first time*

or ever again.

5. Fantastic
I hope it passes. That way next election every single Repuke idiot that voted for it will be sent packing. They will find out just like the idiots in Kansas did that a majority of voters don't want to see this type of thing. Sure, stealth candidates might find their way into office by hiding their true agenda, but the minute they act and reveal themselves they are history...

6. Because they are dumbells.
Here in MI went to the local Borders Books. Went to philosophy section, getting smaller each visit.
Around corner, shelves of books called "inspiriation". Another section for religion, then "metaphysics", then religious fiction.
This seems to be a new phenomenon.

"Intelligent Design" is an oxymoron: unintelligent propaganda. And it has nothing to do with science.

17. Big problem with God being the one who created everything
That means that he also created the Evil to fuck things up.

God created the serpent. Ask a religious nut to try to prove otherwise. "In the beginning" there was nothing but God.

If the school did their job correctly then the children would have the critical thinking skills necessary to make their own decision on which belief is correct

22. Here's an interesting article
From the magazine Reason, which bills itself as being aimed at "intellectual conservatives". This has been going around in evolution/creation discussion circles for a while. The author ties in the push for "intelligent design theory" and creationism in general with the neocon agenda, featuring the influence of Straussian philosophy.

23. it makes for a good joke in europe
I've told the truth about my "science" education to folks in europe, and how creationism and the big hand of god was taught right alongside Darwin (like it was in california in the 70's). People shake their heads in humourous disbelief. Americans really are the stupidest fuckers on the planet... it must be god's joke.

And then i spring it on them, that it is gods divine plan that america is to rule the world and there is nothing they can do about it... and that is the reality... god created americans to be the natural divine rulers of the earth, and that is why we need to teach about god's wisdom in our schools. ;-) So we can educates them Yeeropeans about whoze really in charge.

its time we teach manifest destiny as "the only way" and the human equivalent of "natural selection" in our <science> classes also.... geez, with science like this, who needs fiction.. :-)
