My wife spoke with Erskine Bowles today
(For those who don't know, he is the Democratic candidate for John Edwards' to-be-vacated Senate seat. He lost to Liddy "wife of limpy" Dole in '02.)

She says he's a super-nice dude. He spoke about the various upcoming Senate races. Says the DNC is feeling good about the seats in Alaska, Illinois, and his own race; they feel there is a decent chance of holding Breaux' LA seat and the one in SC; have no idea about the one in Florida, and have basically given up on the Georgia seat. Without mentioning names, Bowles said that who the eventualy presidential candidate is will have a significant effect on the races in the South.
