How Many Will Watch Meet The Press Tomorrow?
I don't have any idea how many folks watch on any given Sunday, but I wonder how much its viewership (is that a word?) will be up tomorrow, if at all?

I sure know I'll be watching. How about you?

3. Sure.
I'm sure it'll be very entertaining.
Not "news", or anything even approaching that, but entertaining in a "you've GOT to be kidding me" kind of way.

6. I don't think I could last an hour ,
first thing on a Sunday AM with Timmy. Throw in Chimpy and it would ruin my day. I'll tune in here and see if it's worth watching the late night rerun. Ever time Bush* opens his mouth lately his numbers have gone down. He doesn't seem to be connecting anymore. Hope this holds true for MTP.

What If Every Church Had Been A Peace Church?

Dick Davis presented this speech on March 5, 2003, at Flag Pole Hill, Dallas, TX.

The history of the Christian church reads like a litany of horror and cruelty that has been perpetrated, with the blessings of the church, upon the peoples of the world.

What If Every Church Had Been A Peace Church?1

Let's review the last 1700 years of Christianity through the honest and uncensored lens of an academic historian. If you are a Christian you will not like what you are about to hear. The history of the Christian church reads like a litany of horror and cruelty that has been perpetrated, with the blessings of the church, upon the peoples of the world.
First, the most current sins of the church need attention.2
1. For generations Christians have killed each other in Northern Ireland.
2. Christians in so called "First World Countries" condone, by their silence, the agonizing deaths of thousands of innocent Iraqi children monthly via the UN Sanctions program.
3. Rwandan Christians brutally massacred hundreds of thousands of their fellow Christians a few years ago.
4. US Christian soldiers, with the prayers and blessings of their home churches, have mercilessly destroyed Afghanistan and her people, both physically, emotionally and spirituality.
5. At the same time the church-endorsed military continues to inflict homicidal violence against Christian peasants in Colombia, under the guise of the Pentagon's discredited drug interdiction policy.
6. And the organized church, out of fear of the unknown and a lack of faith in the clear gospel message of unconditional love, remains essentially invisible and almost totally silent on the un-Christ-like human slaughter known as, modern war.

the rest is here:
http://www.peacemennonite.org/news/20030305wi.html
(interesting footnote, Dick Davis was a Chaplain (Southern Baptist)for the Armed Forces through Gulf I. Retired and left the Baptist's and became a Mennonite, is also a member of Veterans For Peace and is a leading member of Dallas Peace Center.)

I hold Dick Davis in the same high esteem as I do Granny D, Molly Ivins, Jim Hightower, Greg Palast, Robert Fisk and all the rest of the independent journalists and activists throughout this nation.

PMC Named an Excellent Church in Nationwide Study
March 22, 2001
(Dallas, Texas)

Peace Mennonite Church has been named one of America's outstanding Protestant churches in a nationwide study. A team of researchers form the Parish/Congregational Study, based at the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, spent two years searching for local church excellence. "Peace Mennonite Church was clearly the type of church we were looking for," said the study's director, Paul Wilkes, an author and a professor at UNCW. We looked for churches that nurtured the spirit, welcomed and yet challenged, both preached and - more importantly - lived the Good News. Peace Mennonite Church is that kind of church."

After this was announced I went to see what MTP viewership was and it's generally about 4.5 million viewers.

24. I`m building a unit tonight.....
a stabilization unit to go on my couch when I watch the big Bush show tomorrow. I have two rolls of duct tape to secure my arms and legs down so I don`t flail around and throw things and a shatter-proof glass barrier between me and the television in case I break loose and lunge. I`m kind of stuck on the design of the mechanical device I`ll need to supply tissues. Sometimes when I laugh real hard, tears roll down my cheeks.

If this PR move doesn`t work for Bush, he still has another trick up his sleeve.....a pit stop at the Daytona 500 next week for some male bonding. After that, who knows? We`ll probably see him in California, hoe in hand, apron filled with heads of lettuce.

37. I usually check out the transcript
when I think it might have some info I should know about (like what Sneer* had to say a few weeks ago). The transcripts are free if you snag them within a few weeks of the program. It's a lot easier than watching the program--and one can skim over the worst parts.

That said, I may peek at it this week just to see how Smirk* is holding up. But, like many here, I have a very low tolerance for any appearance of * on TV. Don't like Russert either.
