Chomsky on CSPAN2
Saturday: 12:00 PM ET; 9:20 ET PM

Description: From the United Nations Correspondents Association in New York City, Noam Chomsky discusses the "Bush doctrine" and its implications. In particular, Professor Chomsky addresses the Bush administration's space policy and its overall efforts to expand U.S. influence and power. He also talks about the case of British whistleblower Katherine Gun, who leaked a memo stating that the NSA had been spying on UN Security Council members, and discusses the charges against the Cuban 5, who were convicted of espionage in 2001. Professor Chomsky answers questions from members of the correspondents association following his remarks.

6. Why are some down on Chomsky
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 12:54 PM by StClone
I have seen him called an anarchist and worst here (not in this post). What gives? The guy has an understanding of history and a sharp mind for complex details to weave a coherent picture. He gets it and if it scares you in the telling, so be it.

8. He spells it out succinctly and is brilliant
Edited on Sat Feb-07-04 01:17 PM by Mari333
and god help us all if he isnt listened to...the truth is out there but not on main corporate media channels..
Ill bet most people dont know, as he mentioned today, that in 1995 we were 2 minutes away from nuclear war when a shoddy computer system in Russia almost sent a nuke to attack us..and most people dont know that because of the bUsh pre emptive policy, that China and Russia have increased their military spending on missiles 30%..
Bushit will kill us ALL if he gets 4 more years..
insane!
edit to add: his take on the bU$h administration wanting , with world financieers, to make sure the middle class programs are destroyed, and the wealthy become wealthier, and the haves and have nots not only in the US are larger, but the bU$sh doctrine of militarizing space to keep people in control!
this is truly terrifying...and puts the idea of US domination in a new persepective as they use technology to fulfill their purposes..
horror.
I went thru the Cuban missile crisis as a kid..I remember the terror I felt at 11 years old..I am feeling that terror again
and Chomsky spells it out in detail what is happening now, including the LACK of news in the US...and how we arent getting ANY truth from US corporate media..

12. I heard about
the 1995 nuclear story on The History Channel. I believe it was one of their 30 minute shows. Something like "Incredible but True". It may have been a few years ago by now. Time, whatever it is, is an amazing thing. It just seems to go by quicker and quicker. And I'm only 25.

Did the Cold War ever actually end? I mean, neither side really trusts each other. We have our corrupt government, they have a former KGB guy in office. We still have nuclear weapons pointed at each other, right? Unless the 1995 incident actually changed things. No, stop laughing. Come on, it could've changed things. No, honestly.

Hmmmm...pet psychiatrist?? :-)

I really hate I missed this but I'll be looking at the repeat tonight. I like Noam Chomsky. He really knows how to dig deep and his analysis is the midadministration (shrub in particular) is off the hook.
