1. And guess what! ~ We sell them around the world.
We are the world greatest purveyors of death and destruction. I guess that is what is meant by being a Christian Nation

7. You are correct! We sell to the enemy of our enemies...
...who turn around and use them on US. "We" sold billions of dollars of weapons to the ME...which are now being used against our own troops.

10. And like Fundamental/Evangelical 'Christians' we are hypocrites
How is it that these people can really believe what they are doing is 'Godly'. It is a travesty - a twisting of Christian belief into a Pseudo-Judaic mess that has use of the New Testament and Jesus Christ in name only. There is no basis for their beliefs in the New Testament. They have to use 'their version' of the old Testament to rationalize the Empire-raising beliefs they are foisting on easily swayed masses who watch TV rather than go to church.

When this is pointed out to one - the cognitive dissonance is palpable.

What Neo-Cons are to the world, Fundamentalists are to the US. The scary thing is that they are one in the same.

Fundies = hate, intolerance, bigotry in the name of God
Neo-Cons = fear, hate, power-lust,greed in the name of Patriotism

How did we let it get this far?

PS - still respect Methodist, catholic and other faiths who have taken a stand against the empire of war and ideology

3. That's true.
I'm not sure of the context though. Are you saying we shouldn't have a problem with other nations having weapons of mass destruction because we have them too? The hypocricy angle?

4. We shouldn't have a problem with other nations
having WMD because WE (read BFEE) either sold/gave them the weapons or gave them the technology and helped to make their own.

6. The message is simple:
- How can we demand that other countries not produce WMD when we continue to produce them in record numbers?

- And what kind of 'lesson' is taught by the preemptive attack against Iraq...a country that couldn't defend itself because it DIDN'T have weapons of 'mass destruction'?

- That's right...every tinpot dictator and tyrant on this globe will now redouble their effort to attain weapons to defend themselves against a preemptive attack by the US.

8. I've been beaten to a pulp for saying this a long time ago. We would
never have had a problem with Saddam if he HAD weapons of mass destruction. We only fuck with people who don't have them thus making it imperative for every country to acquire them. In fact, I wouldn't respect any so-called leader of a country who did not prioritize getting wmds. Just because they put the word "doctrine" behind Bush's idiotic ideas doesn't make them honorable or majestic. The Bush Doctrine is a load of horseshit.

9. You're absolutely right
- How can we demand that other countries not produce WMD when we continue to produce them in record numbers?

And produce newer and more up-to-date WMD, like the so-called "tactical" nukes that would not be weapons of last resort, but to be used as part of specialized operations, like for "bunker busting". Yes, reviving both the nuclear power industry and nuclear weapons are both Dick Cheney's pet projects.

- And what kind of 'lesson' is taught by the preemptive attack against Iraq...a country that couldn't defend itself because it DIDN'T have weapons of 'mass destruction'?

Get WMD as fast as you can, because the US will invade you whether you have them or not, so at least give yourself a fighting chance. Yep, Dubya's idiot foreign policy is leading to a proliferation of WMD, and a far more dangerous world.
