Can we all agree on this? Right and left?

So who do we need protection from?

Invaders.

Terrorists.

Of course. We all agree with that.

How about -

Anyone who would put their interests ahead of those of the citizens of this country?

That seems reasonable.

Now who might that be?

Corporations that want to pollute our air, water, and destroy our common natural heritage.

Corporations that want to bribe our politicians.

Corporations that want to pass laws that are in their interests rather than the interests of the citizens.

Corporations that want to move to other countries where they can pollute and abuse workers.

Corporations that move offshore so they don't pay their fair share of taxes.

Corporations that want to control our "news" so that they can do all of the above.

Who's with me on this? Why is this so controversial?

How can any citizen, regardless of party affiliation, NOT want the federal government to protect its citizens?

Why do Republicans NOT want to protect our citizens?

I'm just pissed off tonight.

1. Don't forget promote the general welfare, secure the blessings of liberty
The Constitution obligates the federal government beyond only providing for the common defense. You are right, and I don't blame you for being pissed. If you revisit the preamble to the Constitution, you will be even more pissed at the Republicans, and what their radical notions are doing to this country.

3. 3 Protections
1. Protect us from other governments.

2. Protect us from ourselves.

3. Protect us from the government itself.
