Did Russert agree to let the WH approve the final version
of the "interview?" Is there a link to this story if it is true?

1. it says "unedited" but I have my doubts with a 24 hr pretape--
snip

"The interview will be conducted in the Oval Office on Saturday and will air unedited on Sunday morning, according to NBC. The network expects to air excerpts Saturday on its news show. In Los Angeles, "Meet the Press" is broadcast on KNBC at 8 a.m. Sundays."

and the Oval Office location is a nice touch--the trappings of the Imperium always make the Dauphin look less silly than he usually is.

4. "Unedited:" Questions provided ahead of time.

2. The Administration approved every version
Not just the final version. Every question was vetted before ever being asked. Every answer was rehearsed and rehearsed again and again. I bet he still screws up somehow.

5. Fair Journalism
at a minimum, Russert has an obligation to clearly disclose what, if any, terms were agreed to ... issues like: questions in advance, multiple takes, White House control over final edit, location at White House, etc ...

and then, just to make sure things are really fair and balanced, the same terms should be offered to all democratic candidates ... otherwise, you might think there was some kind of pro-bush media bias ... and we can't have that, now can we ...
