Ouch, an nasty question/thought - Would a Repuke admit that
Bush never was elected as pResident if you pointed out that it would mean that he could conceivably serve 3 terms?

Their logic would allow that Gore "won" the election, but dumbly didn't serve, leaving it wide open for W to actually step in and fill the void, and therefore he really didn't serve a term, he was just "filling a space" while that rat-bastard Commie Gore refused to do his term!

2. Not to worry
The Republic will be lucky to survive a 2nd * term. The only way he'll be in power in 2009 is if things get so bad that he has to declare himself Emperor For Life

3. To get what they want...
...neocons will say or do anything. But, if that scenario occurs, I'm taking my family and leaving the country.

4. There is a ten year max.
If a person has been acting President for longer than two years, he can only be elected once.

as per 22nd ammendment 1951.

5. Actually, the answer is an unqualified No.
Edited on Fri Feb-06-04 11:51 AM by tg
Whatever you think of the way the election was handled, * became the legal president, constitutionally, on the day in January 2001 when the results of the electoral college were accepted without contest by the joint houses of congress.

So there is no way they can claim that this is not his first term. Sleep tight, -tg

6. I got into a "discussion" with a Repub last night and he blew my mind
He said with a completely straight face that the reason the vote counting was stopped was because it was being done by Democrats and they were cheating. He said the Supreme Court could not allow the Democrats to steal the election so shut it down. He said it is common knowledge that is the way Democrats are and used Chicago 1960 as proof. There was absolutely no listening to any reason what-so-ever. But on a better note he was disgusted with the Bush* Administration. I'm sure he would vote for them again in a heartbeat though. He was completely ignorant of what is going on. I asked him several pointed questions and he didn't know what I was talking about. He brought up the Clintons several times and I mentioned to him how peculiar it was that he knew all about them but knew absolutely nothing about Bush* previous to becoming President. He just shrugged. He had never heard of Harken or Arbusto or AWOL or virtually anything of Bush*'s history.

12. Arbusto was the Chimp's first oil company
and I believe it was the one in which he partnered with Bin Laden's brother Salem

or was that a different business venture of his?

10. Actually there is a better angle... You could say that * never served
any of our interest in the first 4 years, so they shouldn't count.

Wait.. We could always argue that he did provide service, in the same sense that a bull "services" a cow.

Ravy.

13. My point was that they could try to argue that the constitutional
legality could not apply.

I KNOW THAT PART OF THE CONSTITUTION. I know that the last term that Ford could have served would have ended 1/20/1981.
