Janet gives a gracious apology, absolves MTV and CBS, but Justin
places blame all on Janet (like she tore her own costume off) and the media, pundits, and it seems the entire USA relentlessly attack Janet and they and the Grammys give him a pass? Can racism be any more blatant than this?

1. Is it racism (probably) or "she asked for it" sexism...
Justin tore the cup off. Sure, it was made to detach and expose her, but if one is going to suffer, both should. What's good for the goose is good for the gander, regardless of race.

3. Good point--isn't Justin equally guilty?

She admits that there was supposed to be a "costume reveal," but MTV didn't know about it (though MTV made an online promise of "shocking moments"). If so, then the truly "gracious" thing for Justin and Janet to do is split the cost of reimbursing CBS for any fines they incur. And by letting MTV off the hook, they can still get their videos played!

4. I think he is. He should do the decent thing and not go to the Grammy's
but then he seems all to eager to allow Janet to take the brunt of the criticism. Punk!

6. Justin is a no talent coward.
It is sad that the leading "artists" of our time are all prefabricated souless no talents with no vurtue.

If I could get over being offended by their lack of talent I might have time to care about what happened at the SB.

8. Justin is such a no-talent WUSS that he doesn't even show up on the radar

screen. He's just a prop. A prop that happens to be alive -- I think.

The focus is on Ms. Jackson because she's the talent. Justin's vapid white-bread blandness makes him utterly forgettable; a week from now, nobody will remember he was even there. In a year or so, nobody will remember he even existed...

In addition, as others have pointed out, the WUSS's race & sex means he can do no wrong...

7. have y'all seen this? (Adults only)
http://www.rense.com/general48/janet.htm

It was a stupid stunt, and Justin shouldn't get out of responsibility--The reaction looks sexist, and it's complicated by Janet's race, so that aspect of it can't be ignored.

It looks sexist--but she was also obviously trying to be provocative--I HATED the abject, violent, and blatantly exploitive tone of the whole "piece." The entire theme was filled with rape-based subtext, (the "Clockwork Orange" costumed dancers frinstance) But didn't Ms Jackson have a hand in choreographing the thing? That was her art and body up there, and she gave it willingly. Go Figure.

I don't get why rape is sexy, but MTV seems to think it's just PepsiViagraMcD-elicious, and their channel is soaked in that sort of vaguely bondagey sex-oriented content. Yuck.

10. It's a nice try but that site is wrong.
Her nipple is pierced and the bar is holding that sun on, she probably doesn't take it off all the time.

11. Race has nothing to do with this, at all.
It wouldn't matter what color boob it was, the person who exposed it would be in trouble. To play the race card about this just makes a mockery out of real racism.

Sexism doesn't have anything to do with it either. If some guy pulled down his pants or mooned the super bowl half-time audience, I think he'd be treated even worse - he'd probably be in jail.

Its beginning to look to me now that this was Janet's idea and CBS, MTV, possibly even Justin had no idea what was gonna happen. They thought it was gonna be a red brassiere that was revealed. If thats true, then none of them should share in any of the blame. I wouldn't be surprised if this was between just her and her designer.

She's really caused problems though, cuz now congress is using this to try to crack down on broadcast tv. Theres a big investigation, and there are bills including revoking licenses and increasing fines tenfold - that will chill free expression. It was really a dumb thing for her to do; she gave the censors exactly what they needed.
