Lou Dobbs is on fire over the export of America
His guest was a consultant (American citizen of Indian descent, with a very heavy accent so his first language is Hindi) who is advising companies on how to move their labor force to India.

The consultant was trying to talk to the benefits that we will achieve from this mass exportation of American wealth because companies have to be innovative to stay up with the global economy.

Lou hammered him on the fact that exportation of jobs is not about innovation, it is simply cost reduction. Every point this guy tried to bring up (retraining, money that flows back, increase of jobs here) Lou swatted out of the park.

I continue to be amazed at how Lou is allowed to hammer on this point week after week and the media owners have not stepped up to shut him down.

2. All I can say is go Lou I just wish we had an elected leader who
speak out against this hog wash they are trying to name everything under the sun to make sound less like "Your fired." People need to wake up all it's about now days is MBAs taking over companies and getting big pay days by firing workers.

4. It's about ...

It's about eroding the power of nation states and placing it in the hands of international corporations. That's what World Trade Organization is all about. They can rule our laws illegal on the basis that they unfairly restrict trade. The proceedings are 100% private and 100% secret. The very rules aren't even publicly known.

Seriously, the "New World Order" crap that people have been talking about during the Clinton years. Everybody said it was "The UN". Well I suppose the John Birch society said it was the tri-lateral commission, etc... I guess he was right. WTO is the new world order. The UN is a powerless organization.

END NAFTA AND WTO WHILE WE STILL CAN!!!!!!

5. Could you imagine CNN
firing all its American anchors and replacing them with people who can barely speak English? I dont' think Joe Sixpack would stand for that, or having CNN originate in Delhi instead of Atlanta. Dobbs knows this topic is a hot one and is going for it. His masters don't mind, because they know his position is a popular one. More people watch him, more money for CNN from advertisers.

10. What is happening with media consolidation is that the anchors
you see on your local news may not be so local. The same holds true of DJs, especially those on clear channel stations. As far as anchors go they can broadcast from a central location but read the news relating to the area they are supposedly located.

This allows the media company to save money on hiring anchors. Notice how you see more canned news relating to health and stuff like that. It's CHEAPER.

13. Some of the most eloquent english accents that I have heard

have come from Indians, but your right. Joe six-pack wouldn't understand the King's english without several "shut ups!" being thrown in.

6. He was hot! It was a joy to watch. My husband came in the room
and started talking to me and I told him to wait. He wanted to know why and I said "Watch!"

The guy was talking about people needing training, Lou said "training for what? There are no jobs! "

The guy was talking about he people being paid more, Lou said "so the oversease workers are paid more by American companies than by their native companies. So what, how does that help the American worker?"

The guy talked about the money being "repatriated" to the U.S. Lou said "the money is paid overseas to their workers, it's not repatriated here." The guy continued in that vein so Lou said "Then why don't we ship all the jobs overseas. That would be best, wouldn't it?"

Lou kept hitting the point that this is not just business, the United States is a nation, the people here are its citizens, and American businesses are not paying attention to their responsibilities. They're looking for cheap labor"

9. He was awesome
I generally don't like what the guy has to say....in retrospect I have come to realize that he is a true conservative....not a fascist in conservative clothing. He has earned my respect.

8. Has overseas outsourcing hit the media companies yet?
I don't know. If it hasn't, there's no reason for the media big-wigs to tell Dobbs to can it.

11. If you include movie and television show production as a media corp
then the answer is yes. Video production is being done in Thailand, DVD production in South America, and I would bet that things like research, filing, and media management is being done in India by all of the news programs.

14. I'd had to work in CNN's sales department though
dunno how long Dobbs can sustain a show built around virtually a single issue... it's a far cry from the moneyline format.
