NBC-Bush MTP Interview Taped on Sat.
This is from an e-mail I receive nightly from NBC Nightly News:

And, the president is scheduled to answer questions Saturday in an interview to air Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." NBC's David Gregory reports. For additional information, please read: http://msnbc.msn.com/id/4180021/?0ct=-34n.

So that's it folks. They can edit it, fix it up, and dump it on us.

1. The magic of TV
editing fixes everything. They will keep doing multiple takes til he gets it right.

16. ABER....

Imagine a couple thousand Vets, accompanied by any and/or all of the Democratic candidates, senators, congresscritters (to insure the cops don't start pushing folks around unnecessarily), everybody's got photocopies of their military records, signs, buttons and bumper stickers to pass out to spectators, all gather in the closest "free speech zone" to the TV studio where the MTP slobberfest is taped with mock coffins, whistles, bullhorns, drums, chanting in unison, "Dubya, Dubya, Dubya, WHERE WERE YOU IN 72?" Oh yeah, and don't forget the sea of flags. Ya think that would pose the question LOUDLY ENOUGH?

Ya think the media wouls "engage" and report it?

Man-o-man, this picture engulfed my brain as I was reading today and I just keep re-posting...

Dear Meet the Press,

I understand that you are taping the Bush interview a day ahead of time.

I watch Meet the Press nearly every week, and I'm familiar with the look of a Tim Russert interview.

If the Bush interview has been heavily edited in order to make Bush appear like a normal public official, it will be obvious to me and many other viewers.

Thank you,

6. How can they let Bush get away with doing that...
honestly, I just dont understand...Bush is the one that needs to be on MTP this time...MTP should set the groundrules...not Bush...

When is the media going to get a backbone, I just dont get it?

it is being taped, they can do anything they want to. There will be no suspense behind this interview. Same old shit, same old shit, same old shit.

Questions screened in advance. A kneepad journalist doing the questioning but that was not enough. Now they have a day to give the wh final cut on everything.

Because this is definitely going to be a campaign commercial.

It's disgusting. How can anyone believe a word out of this idiots mouth? I just look at this weasel and know he's lying.

It really doesn't matter, Russert would've tossed softballs anyway.

Guess I'll skip MTP this week.

15. My email to Tim
Not that it will do much good. But the more emails he gets the more he is put on notice that a growing number of us are aware that he is just a tool and propaganda spinner for his corporate masters.

Dear Mr. Russert

I understand that you will be interviewing Mr. Bush on Saturday for your MTP program. Now I know that Mr. Bush's supporters proclaim him to be a born-again Christian and therefore one would tend to think it's not likely he would try to tell any mistruths during an interview. However, according to a recent article in the Toronto Globe and Mail, Mr. Bush has a pretty colorful vocabulary (if you catch my drift) for someone who is supposed to be a born again Christian.

Quote:
The Canadians didn't expect the morality play. Nor did they expect that, almost in the same breath, Mr. Bush would be filling the air with the f-word and other saucy expletives of the type that would surely leave the Lord perturbed. /End Quote

www.globeandmail.com/servlet/ArticleNews/TPStory/LAC/20040205/COMARTIN05/TPComment/TopStories

Now just in case during the course of the interview you suspect that Mr. Bush isn't quite the honest Christian we might all have once thought and is maybe trying to squeek by a nose stretcher or two, I am sure you will find this tool useful in interpreting Mr. Bush's body language to help you assess the veracity of his responses.

Remember Gep's great line, "he's hard to help."

And remember the thing he did with Brit Hume. Hume did his best, and Bush still looked like an idiot.

I don't expect his head to come up from Dubya's crotch long enough to actually ask any questions. The only question this interview will answer is: does Russert swallow?

24. It . . . will . . .be . . . scripted.
But then, you knew that. Almost everything Bush does is scripted, and the rare moments of candor are always disastrous. He is a bumbling, inelegant, witless impromptu speaker, but he can do well when heavily rehearsed (and heavily medicated, IMHO). Russert will obediently send over the questions before the taping. Karen & Karl will knock out some boffo answers & put 'em on teleprompters real quick. Russert will ask the questions, and Bush will read the answers. If Russert deviates from the prepared script, or if Bush goes on a frolic and detour, Karl will "persuade" NBC to edit it out if Bush screws up (haha -- "if").

I guarantee you Bush will weep on camera. He's weird that way.
