Granholm orders flags lowered in honor of woman killed in Iraq

Thursday, February 5, 2004

ASSOCIATED PRESS

LANSING -- Gov. Jennifer Granholm ordered U.S. flags throughout the state
and on Michigan waters be lowered to half-staff Thursday in honor of a
Michigan servicewoman killed in Iraq.

Pfc. Holly McGeogh, 19, of Taylor was killed Saturday near Kirkuk when an
improvised explosive device exploded on the side of the road as her convoy
drove past.

McGeogh was assigned to Company A, 4th Forward Support Battalion, 4th
Infantry Division from Fort Hood, Texas. She enlisted in the Army
immediately following graduation from Truman High School in Taylor in 2002.

Granholm plans to issue a press release with information about any Michigan
serviceman or servicewoman killed in action and designate a day for flags to
be lowered in his or her honor. On Dec. 10, the governor issued a
proclamation requiring U.S. flags to be lowered in honor of all Michigan
servicemen and servicewomen killed in action.

Something you'll never see Shrub doing to honor the dead. Pathetic.

2. Didn't she just endorse somebody that helped make this war possible?
We talk about Hypocrisy in the Republican party, we need to look at our own first.

3. Yep. Kerry.
I wish she had comeout in support of Dean. I think her husband may be working for Kerry in some capacity, though.

5. Kerry supported decision to go to war but now says he did so based on
faulty US intelligence. He opposed $87 billion package for Iraq.

Democrats must unite & keep the heat & focus on *.
I'll support anyone who can beat *.
