I want to marry Auntie Pinko...
...or at least have her love child.

"Incidentally, this goes just as strongly for the lefties who say the word 'conservative' dripping with ignorant contempt. Conservatism is a perfectly valid - and valuable - ideology that makes an important contribution to a thoughtful public debate and the evolution of public policy. No good purpose is served by reducing these perfectly useful and neutral words to the status of name-calling."

This is something I've been saying forever. Most of the time I get laughed at, derided, and otherwise told that I am foolish and stupid. I am so glad to see someone else, with a "louder voice" saying this. So often AP give a nice well reasoned, moderate toned, liberal perspective that is absent of reactionary rhetoric and partisan bull. I wish we had more voices like hers on our side, adn at least one of them running for office.

1. I won't go that far, but...
I'd dearly love to sit down with her over a cuppa tea!

2. Auntie Pinko is already married
or at least has a steady significant other.

No, I'm not Auntie Pinko, but I'm 99% sure that I know who is--an oldtime poster who hardly ever shows up under her screen name anymore.

3. *major big stuck out lip pout*
Darn! Now I'm really bummed.

;-)

Seriously though, it isn't often you can find a liberal writer who, when you take them to your conservative opposition, they say "yes, that's a very good point".
