Woowee! We may pick off a Senate seat in Alaska
Edited on Thu Feb-05-04 08:45 AM by Jersey Devil

...we see Knowles widening his lead in this race. He currently has 44.6 percent of the vote to Lisa Murkowski's 40.6 percent, and Sykes with just 3 percent. Some 4.8 percent favored another candidate, and 7 percent were undecided.

So there appears to be a lead now of 4 points for Knowles, up from 1.3 percent in November and 1.6 percent last month.

I am just guessing at this point, but I sure hope this is a sign of what is to come caused by the awakening and energizing of Democrats nationwide which seems to have reached all the way up to the Arctic.

1. In Alaska, it's more like anger at the Murkowskis.
Daddy Frank quit his Senate job to run for (and win) the governorship, then he turned around and appointed his daughter to finish out his Senate term.

Needless to say, I guess it pissed off a lot of Alaskans. That plus Knowles' popularity when he was governor might just win us this race.

2. A local issue, too bad
and here I was getting all hyped up thinking maybe there was some kind of Democratic trend. Still, hopefully that may be contributing to it.

But I'll take it no matter what the reason. Picking off a seat in Alaska sure would be a juicy plum of a bonus. :-)

3. still a long way to go
I'm sure we'll see ads comparing him to Kim Jong Il and/or Castro and/or whoever is running Iran as well as bin Laden.
