Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 03:56 PM by Old and In the Way
I'd rather go to war."

-- George W. Bush, Houston Chronicle, January 2002

I can't wait for Kerry to ask:

(1) Which war?
(2) Do you really think raising kids is tougher than risking your life or limb? Isn't that an insult to every American combat vet?

Thanks to Javajive for posting this quote yesterday.

1. Say, you don't suppose he went to war so he wouldn't have to think about
his wayward twins, do you?....hmmmmm

2. Which war?
"Any war! We've got the troops to handle it!"
-- George W. Bush, My Imagination, Right Now

Some would argue raising kids is war. :D

Seems to me more of Bush's do as I say, not as I do. He'd rather go to war (since he wouldn't be fighting in it) than raise children (which he'd probably pay someone to do anyway).

How despicable.

5. Kerry is too big a wimp to
say anything like that. He will be respectful of the "popular wartime president" like he has been for the last 3 years.

10. He'll let others attack Bush on the AWOL/deserter issue, but
this is a great statement to attack Bush on....this isn't something he said 30 years ago, this was said in 2002. Is he so deluded, he believe's this?

This is on the record and it's going to be fun to see Bush stumble through his response to this.

6. I hate this quote!
Mr "compassionate conservative" thinks it is easier to go to war and sacrifice other people's children than nuture and parent his own offspring???

Mr AWOL of course would never go to war HIMSELF. So I'm betting Laura handled most of the child-rearing, as a "Perfect Wife" would. This man is CLUELESS on all fronts.

excuse me I have to :puke: now

23. I suspect that Laura had a great deal of help
with Nannies and others who minded the kids for her.

I do not, by any stretch of the imagination think that Laura struggled through endless sleepless nights breast feeding her two little babes.

I think this family, being wealthy, and being used to hiring others to do the hard work, did not struggle at all raising their twins.

They had it better than a whole lot people.

Chelsea Clinton was in the news a lot more than the bushies. What gives?

14. Because they're 21 now
There was a question in Parade Magazine (Walter Scott's Personality Parade)a week or so ago that asked why we aren't hearing about the Bush twins' underage drinking escapades anymore and the answer was "Because they're 21 and legal now."

Presumably the escapades still exist but they're legal now...

I am helping to raise 6 year old twins (bf has shared custody) and would far rather do that than go to war. And it's much more rewarding.

9. Ask the guys and gals in Iraq right now -
"If you had a choice, would you rather go to war or stay at home raising your children?"

You'd get a different answer.

Because B*sh never actually went to war, he let others do it. So he has no perspective there, nor credibility.

15. Didn't he say he learned something from Vietnam also?
I seem to remember a quote from him saying he had learned something (I don't know what that could have been) from Vietnam. As if he had stepped foot there at some time in his life.

He learned that he didn't want to be there so he had poppy buy his way into the Texas National Guard. And repaid him by deserting.

What a flaming a**hole he is - I just can't say it enough. No wonder his kids hate him.

And which war is this?? The war on drugs? The war on Terra? He has no clue what it's like to be up against it. What an insult to everyone who has ever served. :grr:

25. what an adoring family man he is, to be sure.

He's always taking mean-spirited little swipes at his wife and kids. He accuses Laura of demanding that they cut their summer holiday short to go back to DC. He tells the press that he's named the swimming pool "the whining pool" because his daughters made him install it or they wouldn't visit him. (He's used it more than they have.)

Whether Laura and the twins are harpies or not is beside the point. A loving father and husband would never complain (let alone to reporters!) about his family, regardless.

I'm starting to think that he's using them as an excuse for his own shortcomings. They probably have had to put up with this for decades, and are understandably upset.

So technically, he has been to war.
And you know what he means when he says "I'd rather go to war". Why bother raising kids when you can snort coke instead?
