Limbaugh's Latest Super Bowl Rant
He just said something about the NFL turning over the halftime show to people who are "opposed to every virtue professional football stands for." He said he was quoting a Robert No-Facts column.

Just what virtues do professional football stand for?????

1. hitting people
he is right, no one got hit during halftime.

It does say a lot that this is all Rush has to talk about. I mean if he brings up anything else (Iraq, the economy, deficits), he might have to mention how bad things are.

10. Remember
two years ago he claimed the New Enlgand Patriots were communists... (oh yes he did). Amazingly, nobody suspected he was on drugs at the time.

4. Rush apparently forgot that football is entertainment.
In the Republican worldview, football, jesus, and the oil is the American Holy Trinity.

8. Yes, after all, football has given us role models like
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 03:03 PM by Sandpiper
O.J. Simpson, Dexter Manley, Ray Lewis and Michael Irvin. Even Warren Moon, the former NFL Man of the Year (their good citizen award) once got arrested for domestic violence.

7. Professional football
and every other professional sport for that matter, doesn't stand for any sort of values. Its sole purpose is entertainment and nothing else.

And as for the half time show fiasco, why is it offensive to see Janet Jackson's breast, but it's not offensive to see a bunch of half naked cheerleaders on the sideline?

9. Violence, drunkeness, steroids and soft core porn
You're supposed to only imagine what the cheerleaders' tits look like while waiting for the Levitra to kick in...you're not actually supposed to see them...

11. flame me, but I agree with him.
I deliberately didn't watch any of that vegas-style tasteless crapola surrounding the game.

I honestly don't understand what a football game has to do with any of this other crap.

I turned off the TV when the other stuff was on, just watched the game.

Sue me, I like football. It's a sport, the other stuff is just some kind of weird show-business cancer that's grown up around it.

And I'm really really sick and tired of these publicity stunts like the Britney Lesbo Kiss and all that kind of shit. It's disgusting, not because I don't like to see girls kissing (I do) but because it's pure whoredom. If you want to simply shock people, well, how far are we away from public executions and gynecological exams on live television.

Professional football is pure show business. It's only value is in entertaining the masses. The NFL's only interest is attracting as many viewers as possible in order to increase their revenues, and if T & A can get more people watching the game, so much the better in their mind.

16. Usually We're On The Same Page, Skittles. But . . .
. . .i think in this case it was women using sex to titillate men for business. There are lots and lots of female producers and planners in show biz. And many of them have female clients.

While i don't like it either, i think we're in the same book but different page on this one. I think it's not a matter of using women by some faceless business folks. It's women using sex to make a ton of dough and some faceless business folks leveraging that to make another separate ton of dough.

17. I agree with you except
football SUCKS :)

But seriously, there should be a larger government-run media. You don't see this filth on PBS, France2, CCTV, or any state owned television networks around the world.
