He's Off to War...Need Prayers and Good Energy
My son's dear friend (wacky boy who signed up with the Marines during the tenure of the WRONG administration) just got his papers that he is headed to Iraq in six weeks.

His name is Derek, he is 19 years old, and with good luck and Godspeed he will come home.

Say a little prayer for this handsome, green Marine. And say one for his mom and dad too. They are afraid.

4. Good luck and crossed fingers for Derek
Be sure to give us his APO address..(not on the forum..just PM me and I'll add him to the list)..

We will gladly send him care packages.. It sucks to be there, but getting goodies from time to time at least reminds them that we are thinking of them :)

8. Thank you . . .
I will call his mom and get the most current address. I hope that all of his other friends will remember to send him stuff. It's so hard. I've known him since he was in fourth grade. It's like my own kid is going.

We gotta stop this madness.

10. Have him include some of his fellow soldiers too
There are always a few in every unit who do not get much mail or attention from home.. Those are the ones we like to adopt :):)

and female soldiers are always welcomed..They have special issues with being over there and the military is not very accomodating to them..

14. Will do . . .
I got a huge list at Christmas time. My son wrote one of the guys, but we are waiting to hear back.

I sent that huge list to all my repressive acquaintenances. I highlighted the entries like this one:

SPC Wenzel, Timothy
333rd MP CO
APO, AE
09335

NOTE: Timothy is a medic...was feeling exhausted
and buddy told him to stay at base and buddy
would go on call...buddy was in ambulance that was
ambushed and all were killed..
Timothy feels guilty and says "it should have been me"

There is so much more to war than dead bodies.

7. I will pray that Derek returns home safely, and that he is able to
be involved more in the humanitarian relief efforts than the fighting.
