4. Not so fast my friends...
As was pointed out in several other posts in this forum, 2000 isn't a good benchmark because the primary was not taken seriously, as we had a sitting VP running and a very popular president leaving office. 88 and 92 are much more relevant. Also, look at the order (IE does the state MEAN something) of the primary/caucuses. Also, look at the Open vs. Closed features of the contest as well. If you compare numbers apples to apples, the numbers might not look as good. Sorry to burst the bubble, but honesty should reign.

5. Okay show us the numbers.
In Iowa the last record was in 1992. 170,000 this year it was 220,000 a substantial increase I would venture. Don't have the figures on the other states but would venture a guess they are similar. If you believe them to be a lot different then show us.

Mind you I am card carrying liberal Democrat. I believe in the party and the good it can do. I am also a scientist and realist. In other words I don't dilude myself,

11. Interesting and a dash of cold water at the same time
You are quite correct in that we shouldn't count any chickens just yet. It certainly is a good trend compared to 2000 though. at least if any of these figures are accurate. I found no direct links to a real source other than another DU thread.
