1. Not ever going to happen.
We can consider it--but I doubt a pro-choice person will ever by on the ticket.

7. It doesn't matter
Bush's running mate won't matter. He could pick someone as "well liked" as Colin Powell and the Dems would still kick his ass out of the white house

2. Yup, I know this site
A friend of mine had dealings with the people who run this site. They're just wannabe freepers.

8. I have and this is why he will not.
He wants to carry the South. He knows his base would not put up with it. Those were the men and women that did that match on DC about the men rule the women thing. What were they called? Uppity women do not go over in the South or not when I lived there and one that is black? Come on. Bush is not going to get the black vote even with JC on his ticket.Besides that, GOP women usually stand around and smile at their husband and she has no husband to smile at.

5. I've seen the site too.
I honestly don't think anything will come of it. However, if it did happen, that would be a very formidable ticket. Never ever underestimate your opposition. She is intelligent, articulate, assertive and plays concert piano too. And of course having a black woman on the ticket would peel of a bunch of votes from our base.

Before anybody starts argueing with my last sentence - remember this: Not all of the base is hard core committed, some of it is soft, and some of it is just barely Democrat. If 1 in 10 blacks that voted Democrat last time vote Rep this time because of Rice, then the election is gone. And there will be some women that will be attracted to her too. And her being pro-choice (Laura is pro-choice.) will give the appearance of a softer stance on abortion for him.

Conservatives love Rice. She is a hard liner on defense. He would be able to shore up his base with her.

However, W has already said that he is not going to get rid of Cheney. Of course that leave open the question of Cheney leaving anyway. He does have serious health problems.

I consider it a long shot - but a dangerous one.

6. I'm not sure Rice would garner that much support in the AA community
and her presence on the ticket would certainly obviate the southern strategy.

13. Very good
Very good analysis. I agree that a Bush-Rice ticket would be more difficult than a Bush-Cheney ticket. With that said, let's hope it doesn't happen not just for the campaign dangers, but if elected, Rice would be in a position of strength for 2008 if they were to win. Too dangerous for me to think about. She is SOOO conservative. But a strong ticket it would be.

10. Rice will leave...
She won't stay in the adminstration and you'll hear her announce 'other plans' just like Powell. Cheney will NEVER give up the VEEP position. He calls the shots. Not Bush. NOT the GOP.

11. I'm hearing rumors about Baker
James Baker would probably clean house though. So I guess it's gonna be Rice.

If it's Rice, we are fucked.

12. Nope.
Play loop of Kindauseless Rice saying "no one ever dreamed of using airliners as weapons"

Then, "Ms. Rice, one way or another 9/11 was a colossal intelligence failure; who has been fired, demoted, or reprimanded for it?"

"No one?"

End of story

14. Ain't going to happen.
The entire southern strategy is predicated on scaring white males away from the Democratic Party. This is the same bunch of bigots that wouldn't allow blacks and women into their country clubs. How likely are they to vote for a black female when they don't even want to share a golf course with one?

Granted, that ticket might attract a lot of women, blacks, etc who might have otherwise voted Democratic, but it would undoubtedly trigger a revolt among the conservative base.
