Should the law be changed because of Rush?
I posted on this subject before. My opinion is that pleas negotiations should be kept confidential. Here's a link

1. It is my understanding that a right-wing group filed a FOIA for the releas
of the records so they could see if there was a political motive behind the investigation. The material was released by them and not by the prosecution. You wish to do away with FOIA?

2. No, but it could be amended
to stop this kind of evil crap.

3. Slippery Slope
FOIA should not be tampered with.

What do you think of Jeb's AG office getting involved with Rush's case? Do you not think that is an instance of Rush getting preferential treatment?

4. I don't know about
the AG. My understanding is that they are objecting to the DA'z misrepresenting advice that they gave them.

But FOIA, if it allows for the release of this type of information, is, I think, wrong. Slippery slope be damned. A little common sense is needed in certain applications of the law. Rush is not a government official, and is entitled to the same protections as the rest of us.

I don't approve of any special positive treatment for him, any more than anybody else. I don't approve of any special negative treatment, either.

5. Actions of the prosecutor's office
Are public record and should stay as such. How else is the media to find out if political bigwigs got off in plea agreements?

6. We're just going to
have to disagree on this one. Plea negotiations should be kept confidential.
