2. She spoke the truth, and was banished to the hinterlands
She pops up every now and then for a remote shot, but she's no longer the darling.. Daryn Kagan and that laughing imbecile Kyra are the pets now.. They need bibs to catch the drool when they say the words "President Bush"..:puke:

4. indeed... Banfield is a true journalist
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 12:35 AM by ixion
I have immense respect for her, and for any other journalist that hasn't traded their integrity for a Bush 'pioneer' pledge pin. :-(

These days, you speak the truth and your out of a job. And that's NOT just in journalism.

10. This, the same woman that threw dust on her clothes
while reporting from New York on 9/11?

She fucking put dust and debris on her clothes before she went on air "for effect" :eyes:

she was criticizing the media about the Iraq war coverage.

6. I liked her too...
.... I don't think she fit the CIA/television agent role.

5. I was kind of wondering about that myself
I sorta miss that bespectacled wonder. I used to go watch her singing the blues down in Deep Ellum in Dallas, when she worked at the Fox station there. She wasn't half bad.

Sure wish she would have gone into singin' instead of the corporate propaganda biz. She had a lot of potential, that gal.

8. I liked her at first, but when MSNBC began to promote her
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 12:51 AM by countmyvote4real
beyond expectations, I found the promotion to be really irritating. I heard she made some bad remarks about the media and then they dropped her like a hot potato. She could still have a turnaround. Afterall, Debra's back.

7. she is on
Edited on Wed Feb-04-04 12:55 AM by jansu
MSNBC Investigates & NBC Correspondent. After she apologized and said she would never do that again they let her stay on......but maybe she has moved on. Hopefully, to better things. It would not surprise me that she quit and gets married and has babies and lives happy ever after....oh that's another dream job...

9. Now that you mention it...
Where did she go? And if it was because she would not sit, look at the camera and lie through her teeth. More power to her.

11. My pet theory
Is that she secretly murdered Michael Weiner and was hustled quitly off to serve a short stay in an asylum. Later, when Kerry is President, she'll get a Medal of Freedom for her service to the Republic.

12. Google is our friend.
From a Google search we can see ...
Ashleigh Banfield's future at NBC remains status quo from where it was last month, when her contract expired.

"She's still there and she's been working right along - we're not closing anything yet and we're looking at her options," Banfield's agent, Alfred Geller, said yesterday.

"I honestly don't know what's going to happen," Geller said. "There's nothing new. She has three opportunities she's considering and she's taking her time figuring out what she wants to do."

13. Can't put her on the air
You can't have someone who criticizes the media for it's lack of honest coverage of war, who reports from Arab countries speaking to real Arabs that look like real people and not terrorists, and expect to stay on the air.
