Republican Responsibility as Campaign Focus

Isn't it time to lay blame where blame is due?

The Republicans have dominated Congress for the past 10 years, controlling the House completely and the Senate for eight of the ten years.

Only the Senate split in '01 and '02 kept the Republicans from absolute control. The Senate was split during the 107th Congress leaving the Democrats with only nominal control over legislation.

The House has been in Republican hands for a decade.

The Republicans control everything in the 108th Congress.

The Republicans have controlled at least two-thirds of the Presidency, House, Senate trio for 16 of the past 24 years. The Democrats only controlled all three during the 103rd Congress, which was the first two years of the Clinton Presidency. This is when Clinton barely got his economic plan (which just so happened to result in fiscal responsibility) passed into law.

The Republicans have long run against the Democratic Congress. Even though the Republicans have been in control!

Compare now with then (1982). The debt is 7x higher. Deficit spending is rampant. We are STILL dependant on foreign energy sources. Poverty and homelessness is still a problem. Healthcare insurance is far more expensive and not available to millions. Pollution is still a serious problem. The rich have gotten MUCH richer. The average family works far more hours to maintain a household.

How many more years of Republican policies can we survive?

Republicans promised a lot when they asked voters to make them the majority. They've had a pretty good shot. What have we gotten in return?
