Top US official heads to Bali for security talks

JAKARTA: US Attorney General John Ashcroft, a top figure in the American-led 'war on terror', will meet Asia-Pacific counterparts today on the Indonesian island of Bali where Muslim militants killed 202 people in 2002.

Foreign affairs and law enforcement ministers have been invited to the Bali meeting from 10 Southeast Asian countries, South Korea, China, Japan, New Zealand and several other countries, the Australian foreign ministry said.

This reminds me of when there were suspected scuba-diving terrorists on the Florida coast and hookers in (gasp!) New Orleans. Our dedicated rightwing patriots get vacations while ordinary people get sent to the front lines in Iraq.
