Anti-war voices STILL not given airtime, even though they were RIGHT!
From today's Democracy Now!, my hero, Amy Goodman, made a great comment:

"You know, it's been quite amazing to watch television over this past week after David Kay said he couldn't find any weapons of mass destruction in Iraq. All of the programs are talking about "How could we have gotten so wrong?" and they are INTERVIEWING the people who got it so wrong.
In the news headlines, we are pointing out that Colin Powell is now saying "if he had known what he knows now..." Yet more than half the people in this country were opposed to the bombing of Iraq, did not believe, perhaps, that weapons of mass destruction were an imminent threat to the United States. I haven't seen ANY of those voices -- the people who have said 'No' from the beginning."

Once again, mainstream media uses this technique to narrow the acceptable range of discussion dramatically. It keeps trying to push antiwar voices to the fringes, instead of in the center of the discussion, where they belong. Can you imagine any other group not being given the opportunity to say "I told you so", and why??

She is so right about this; I am going to start writing letters. Please join me. Demand that the networks and news channel include the likes of Robert Byrd or Ted Kennedy or others http://www.congressforpeace.com/links.html">who voted no to every discussion of so-called "intelligence failures".

1. The media hasn't changed hands, has it? What did you expect?
Murdoch, Scaffie, and ilk still own and control the media in this country. Anti-war sentiments will never get a fair hearing.

5. I expected fair and balanced reporting.
Well, okay, maybe not. But sometimes the glaring omissions are right before your eyes and you don't notice them. A good project would be to count how many prowar senators & reps they've had on TV vs ones that voted against the war, in the last month.

2. Very true
Thank heavens we at least have Dennis K. speaking out, but we all know how much time the media is giving to him. :eyes:

3. And let's put Kucinich as one of the great heroes of this debacle
He never wavered, not for one moment. Dean, not being privy to the information Kucinich had, did not take long to figure out the invasion of Iraq was a farce. Now let's take a look at our "frontrunner," shall we? Political expedience, straight down the line. Very poor judgment.

I've had people glare at me and nearly hiss, I've had people laugh in my face, and write me nasty letters, all because I said from the beginning that Saddam has no WMD. It gives me no pleasure to say "I told you so." But facts are facts.

6. Shhh! Impermissible focus.
That's the past. Look to the future, etc. etc..

The permitted foci today are these (in order):
1. Janet Jackson's breast
2. excluding Kucinich and Sharpton from debates.
3. the inevitability of a Kerry nomination with only 90% of necessary delegates still to go.
4. the weather.

7. Five Old Men Hunker In The Bunker
The CEOs of TimeWarner, Viacom, Disney, GE and News Corp enjoy pate and champagne while wearing their Gucci blinders. They are confident that their armies will break out any minute now and crush the invaders.

Meanwhile, their Fuhrer nervously paces the floor in his private chambers. Muffled explosions can be heard several blocks away. They seem to be getting closer...

9. and the military families
we are completely ignored...theres a cruel rub
When protesting outside the SOTU address..no one covered it, not even C Span...ignored by every station..
on March 14 military families will be descending on Dover AF base to demand coverage of the dead being brought home...doubt they will cover it..
They even ignored when the families flew to Baghdad to try and see their kids and loved ones..
Blackout.
I marched against the war twice, now Im literally marching or protesting for a loved ones life..
I doubt they will cover a damned thing. Not much $$$$ in the coverage of the dead and wounded soldiers or their families I guess.
