A WOMAN calls my office the other day to complain about an item where I listed important VIP's who paid tribute to editor Ellen Levine of Good Housekeeping. This anonymous caller promised that I would be "investigated by the government" because of my "bias." She notes I entered First Lady Laura Bush's name last in the list and said, "This proves your bias!" ....

Hmmmm . . . will others in the media be "investigated" for their bias? Will they get around to Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly and Peggy Noonan and Rush Limbaugh and people like that? (Some of them are my good friends.) I believe it is still a free country and I have never made a secret of my political leanings.

2. The incestuous media

Nice to see Liz describe the right-wing media orcs protecting GWB as (at least some) "my good friends." All wealthy folks moving in the same class, hanging out with the same people at the same events. Matt Lauer of Today goes on golfing trips with Rush Limbaugh, for example. We wonder why the media kisses butt. They all move in the same high end social circles, ultimately, tut-tutting the common folk and having not a clue what it's like to worry about paying your bills or having your nephew or niece serve in Iraq. Spare me, Liz.
