The real Super Bowl controversy - security
Janet's boob is nice and distracting, but the real issue is the failure of security.

With all those police, all that tightened security, a man was able to run out on the field and dance a jig for 40+ seconds, butt naked.

Now how much harder would it have been for him to run out on the field and knife/shoot a few players?

2. "The real Super Bowl controversy - security"
Do we know where this guy came from? Did he jump from the stands or was he on the sidelines to begin with? It's hard to blame the security until we know the facts...

5. heh
Well, why aren't all the security nuts up in arms about this, instead of worrying about a mammary gland? I guess I should have explicated that a bit more in the original post.

9. They should be up in arms.
In the larger scheme of things a guy getting on the field at a "secure" event is a bigger issue. You're right on.

But today's media seems to want to distract us from the REAL issues. If we think too much, we might vote Democratic. }(

6. Didn't they have to go through a metal detector?
It is one thing to take off your clothes and run around like a crazy person and quite another to produce a weapon under such circumstances.

7. I don't agree
Taking off your clothes is easy. You could have been standing next to one of the coaches and disrobed suddenly...security wouldn't be able to prevent that.

I don't think that easily translates into someone who has a weapon getting close to players, etc.

8. He was dressed as a referee.
Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 11:54 AM by RUFUS_T_FIREFLY
He came off the sidelines dressed as a referee. He got down there with no problems, obviously, just because he looked like he belonged there. I thought Homeland Security was supposed to be running things there...

The problem is that someone managed to get onto the field without being noticed until he actually disrobed, apparently because he was dressed like he belonged. Match that up with the concept that someone on the inside could plant a weapon during all the preparations for the game, and you've got a terrorist, or even a suicide bomber on your hands.

10. Well, by all means...let's cancel the Super Bowl next year
or, better, just broadcast it with no audience in the stadium so that security can be total
