From bush's most loyal county in NJ....(a gardener story)
A liberal Dem gardener friend of mine and I decided to organize a plant swap for spring. We are doing this as a means of "gardener survival" in the middle of winter. I invited a third gardener from our gardening cyberforum to work with us in the planning. We set a meeting for Sunday.

On the way to the meeting my liberal friend, whose name is Cindy, remarked that one of her favorite charming towns is "(name of town)." She told me all the reasons she liked this town--the quaint houses and shops, the town green, the landscaping, the cottage gardens, etc. I said, "It's interesting that this is your favorite town--because that is where Helen lives." Helen is the third gardener with whom we were meeting.

Cindy then said, "Well, I sure hope you're not getting me into a planning committee with some republican. Because that town is practically solid republican!" I said, "I sure hope she's not a repuke!"

We arrived at the meeting place and there was Helen. We chatted for awhile about various things. Suddenly Helen got a pained look on her face and she tried to ask us something but she was having trouble getting the words out. It had something to do with bush, which kind of surprised me because most of the preceding conversation had been about the gardening forum we all frequent. Finally I said, "Spit it out Helen. What is it?" She said, "Well, you aren't bush people are you? Because if you are...if you are, I can't work with you."

I just about fell off my chair laughing. I looked at my friend Cindy, whose eyes were popping out of her head. Here was someone from the heart of a bush county--in fact, the wealthiest county in the whole United States--telling us she couldn't work with us if we were "bush people."

Well, this precipitated a heated exchange about who hated him most and I'd like to think I won but I'm sure both Helen and Cindy thought they won, too.

5. Excellent! You have to get a detailed list of the things
that made her turn. It should then be sent to every democratic candidate a thousand times over! Also post it here for the blueprint for victory!

6. good ole Bergen County
That place, like all other "Bush lands" is turning. I don't think they'll be going the Kucinich route any time soon, but even rich people (as much as they love keeping their money) realize that having tons of loot isn't going to save them when the country is crashing at your feet.

7. Great Story-I think I know what county you're talking about
my brother-in-law and his wife live there and it is like a Republican island in NJ.

It's amazing when people wake up and can see through the BS the administration is feeding us through their lapdog media.

8. The base is really shaken
We've known for a long time and I think it is just dawning on the repubs in Washington and around the country.

This whole B*sh thing has always reminded me of a mayor we had in our city a few years ago. He was very repub, won by a sqeaker, then spent the next four years being arrogant, ruthless and putting destructive policies in place (sound familiar?). Well, he was so confident he would win the next election, touted all the "wonderful" things he had done, ran an agressive campaign ect.....HE LOST BIG.

The opposing campaign really worried all the way to election day, wondering if he could be beat.......

I have not given up on people in this country, I believe they know what a huge failure the pResident is and come November he will be ousted.

11. But it's still likely that they will show up and vote for the idjit anyway
they've been brainwashed that the alternative is worse.

Best we can hope for is that they get so disgusted that they don't bother to vote. Then they will claim "victory" because the votion population didn't actually show up.

10. Thank you so much for that story,
it gives me hope that people out there are beginning to see what most of us have seen all along. That * and Company are a disaster for this great country of ours and we all need to keep working hard to get it back. With perserverence I know it will happen.

12. reminds me of Virginia Beach
which is one of the BIGGEST * loving areas you can find anywhere. When I was looking for the Paul O'Neil book at the Pembroke area Barnes and Noble, it was sold out. I even had an ex Navy guy tell me where to find a cop (the Chesapeake store, ut then THEY sold out of their copies too). h, and the LONG line of people in the store putting their names and phone number on a waiting list for the next shipments.

Now you still have the usual nutcases defending the BFEE to the bitter end :eyes:, but more amd more people are expressing their anger at *...and this was before the latest stuff came out last week or so! I will be very eager to see if Kerry and Edwards will stomp here for the VA primary--Clark did so earlier--because there's an eager audience waiting for them here.

14. AOL Chatroom Change...
I visit a room frequented by 30+ adults. Many are white suburbanites...well entrenched in GOOPland...and you can talk anything...anything...except politics with these people. In the wake of 9/11 there was a lot of flag waiving and "let's kick ass" going on, then a year ago it was "gung-ho get those Iraqis who flew the planes into the buildings". I would rarely get into an exchange with these people, flabergasted by the among of corporate/regime propaganda these people had taken in as "gospel"

Even a month ago I got into an exchange with some clown who claimed he was a vet who had served one tour in Iraq and was getting ready to go back again. He questioned my "patriotism" since I asked how he could be loyal to someone who went AWOL during his "tour" and let others do the dying for him then and now. This goof called me every wingnut name in the book and then asked how I supported the war. I said "I pay for it"...I'm in the top tax backet and pay the full share. I then asked about his "service"...I love these flag-waver monkeys that try to woo the babes playing online Toby Keith. Of course he couldn't tell me what unit he was with or where it served or when he was returning...but he assured me he's going back as soon as he can. I volunteered to buy him the plane ticket and personally drive him to the airport. It's amazing how often I make that offer to wingnuts and they haven't taken me up on the offer (I'm very good for it). That shut up the doofus and he has avoided me since.

The other day somehow the topic turned from it's usual sexual content...the frustration of it or lack thereof...to economics and I blurted out how out of touch the manchild in DC is with what's going on with the "common folk". Yes, I spelled the name out, but still refuse to attach president or any variation to it any further. I expected someone to flame or at least defend bunnypants. Instead, one person responded with their own nasty * barb and a third said "it's OK, I think the guy's a real a-hole, too"...soon the room was going with a discussion of how bad things are and how this regime refused to take responsibility for anything that's gone wrong. The tide is turning, but is it peaking too early?
