Will Giuliani replace Cheney in ’04?
From MSNBC.COM:
"A well-placed source says that the president will “most likely” drop Dick Cheney from his re-election ticket and his first choice for a replacement is former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani.

“The issue of Cheney’s health will probably be given as the reason,” says the insider. “There’s a short list of possible replacements, and Rudy is at the top of the list.” "

1. Seems unlikely
that the puppet master would allow himself to be replaced...

2. I agree...however,
he could still do his string-pulling from whatever spider hole he is using as his undisclosed location.

He knows he is unpopular. Just because he is not on the ticket does not mean he would could not remain as some sort of advisor, ex-officio or otherwise.

14. Actually if Cheney is thinking about the future he might
But it won't be Guilliani. He'd be far too independent. It might be someone else though--someone who looks good and can run in 2008. And then appoint Cheney secretary of something

3. How about John McCain replacing Cheney, or Colin Powell?
Cheney is an obvious drag on the GOP ticket, so any replacement would be considered a plus provided it didn't offend the base. Rudy is pro-choice so he would not be acceptable.

4. Lets hope so. The reason why would dog bush* all the way.
The obvious reason would be the WMD stance of the bush* cabal. The resignation (even if the phoney reason of health was given) would only highten the lies and the resignation would give validity to what everyone is accusing bush* and his cabal of doing in regards to the lies.

5. The Democrats are accomplices in the WMD lies
Don't forget how many of them, including some that are running for President, enabled Bush in his war of aggression against Iraq. Most of them were cheering as our invading armies crossed into Iraq from Kuwait, their cheering only stopped when the Iraqis began to resist the American occupation.

7. Clark didn't. Kerry didn't. Dean didn't. Kucinich, Sharpton, Braun didn't.
That just leaves Lieberman. And yes, the cheering stopped when our soldiers started getting murdered. But this is not an American occupation and I reject that characterization of it as such. America does not want our soldiers there. Some in America do but I know alot of Republicans who don't and I know a few democrats who do. But I know a whole hell of a lot Americans don't.

8. Kerry most certainly did! His hands are bloody!
Kerry lacks the integrity of Lieberman. At least Lieberman has been forthcoming about his reason for supporting regime change, which was to rid Iraq of a tyrant. Nevermind that Lieberman never said a word about other tyrants that the US supports, including Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Ariel Sharon.

9. Kerry voted for it but put conditions on it.
I don't agree with his vote for the war but I do know he put conditions on that vote and accept his explanation for it. Is Kerry my first choice for Democratic nominee? No. Will I vote for him if he is the nominee? Yes. But lets not forget it was george bush* who gave the order to invade. This is at george bush*s doorstep not congress and especially not the Democrats. I think we should remember that foremost. Otherwise like a snake, bush* will slide out of responsibility for the deaths of over 500 American soldiers.

11. Bush gave the orders to invade, and Kerry was on the sidelines cheering
Kerry is as guilty as those Germans that cheered the Wehrmacht as it marched into Poland.

15. Good point
We should all leave the democratic party because they are just as guilty as President Bush is. That way we're sure to get President Bush out of the white house in '04

10. Story is 6 days old and hasn't gotten much traction
So my hunch is that it's bogus.

Could be one of those "trial balloons" though. Giuliani seems to have raised his exposure level - we was on O'Really(?) last night.

12. Giuliani has skeletons in his closet.
After the fact, we're finding out a great deal about the 9/11 "recovery" that we didn't know before. How is it that Giuliani didn't know about the polluted problem at ground zero? How is it that he allowed the surviving relatives to go to a memorial that was potentially toxic? I know people that went and they said that the stench was overwhelming. They only discovered later that there may have been toxic fumes. Was the photo opportunity too great to pass up?

18. As an adulterous divorced Catholic
I don't think Rudy could get the blessing of the Christian Fundies who rule the Bush Regime. More to the point, he'd have to stay in the background too much--that's not his style. And he nullfied his 9/11 heroics by trying to delay the distribution of the city's donations until March. Only a public outcry made him disburse them before Christmas.

19. Don't over estimate Guilani's power.
Right after 9/11 we had a governor's election here in Virginia which is primarily republican. This was to replace Gov. Gilmore who was to be head of the RNC. For weeks prior to the election they had ads with Guilani endorsing the republican candidate every five minutes. But the Democrat, Mark Warner won.

Side note: In the end, Gilmore didn't get the job because his endorsement didn't help the republicans win either.
