Why is anger with a Democratic candidate an issue?

1. A reporter asked * a question?
I thought his Imperial Pomposity didn't "do" that sort of thing.

2. Oh, it's just so winning and charming when the Bush gets feisty!
Plus, he gives out nicknames! Isn't that marvelous?

Gosh, you sound so angry yourself! You must be one of those irrational Bush bashers! Why don't you toe the line and be with the vast majority of the nation -- 75 percent -- who love our popular wartime president?! Okay, 60 percent. Whoops, I mean 55 percent. Okay, now it's 49 percent. Well, all right, down to 47 percent ...

4. double standard
Dean let's out a tame but expressive vocalization: he's "unpresidential"

Bush can't even complete a sentence unless he's calling a reporter an "asshole": he's restoring honor and dignity to the White House.

7. Link, Please....Sounds Like Another Stunt That Didn't Hunt
Notice how bunnpants schedules these "conferences" on the spot or with almost no notice, generally in front of the "gophers" of the White House press corpse (you don't expect John King or Carl Cameron to really break a a sweat by covering their beat)...thus if there are questions, they're guaranteed softballs from those still checking their undies, overwhelemed by being in the White House. Also, surely there's Karen Hughes in the shadows picking out those worthy of approaching the boy king.

With all the bad press this regime's been getting lately, Rove is trying to get his Message out...trying to battle two fronts at once...1.) the non-stop Democrat focus (tranlation: Bush-bashing) that's been going on the cable channels the past month and 2.) deflect attention from the growing rumblings on the right about the defecits, WMD, 9/11, Medicare and the economy. I think he's struggling to figure which problem is worse...thus any diversion will work on both.

Lately there hasn't been all the press coverage of this regime they got accustomed to. Fleischer is downright boring and nowhere near the "pop star" Ari was (CNN rarely carries a Press Conference anymore) and the Rummy show has worn thin as the Iraq quagmire thickens. Rove needs ways to get "up in the headlines"...and a bunnypants eruption could do it...and send the message to be very wary of this regime since it will do whatever it take to win and that means lying, deceiving and destroying.

9. He cracking up
Yesterday even his patented 4-word phrases were coming out garbled and basically incoherent. He's even having trouble with the scripted stuff. An honest-to-god off-the-cuff question would probably knock him out cold.
