A worthwhile thing to name after Reagan
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 07:56 PM by dsc
I am watching West Wing on Bravo tonight and it is the episode where CJ visits his alzheimers ridden father. It made me think of a truely worthwhile thing to name after Reagan. The Ronald Wilson Reagan Alzheimers' research institute. It could be federally funded and devoted to finding a cure for that scourge.

On edit I would call it the Satan Institute if it got it funded. This Congress and President would never fund it otherwise.

that could be appropriately called after Reagan.

On edit- ok that was juvenile, even for me.

would be to name it after Reagan. And I think that would be worthwhile.

16. Don't think for a minute that they wouldn't
Those morons will honor anything, no matter how rediculous, just to "honor" the "legacy" of Ronald Reagan.

Somehow, however, when remembering his legacy, they always forget the parts about installing Saddam, arming Iraq, illegally arming Iran, the massive deficits, and the widening of the gap between the wealthy elites and the other 99% of the country.

Gee, what a great man.

Give me a fucking break.

But, we must name everything after him, otherwise people will realize what a stupid puppet he was.

Edited on Tue Feb-03-04 12:17 PM by alg0912
This is not about honoring Reagan. This is about getting funding for research (including stem-cell research). Since the repugs hold all the cards, we have to play the game, as distasteful as it is. Alzheimer's is a horrible disease!

(on edit - I see you agree w/ dsc in your other post - I guess I was confused by your conflicting post that I responded to...)

You're right - that probably the only way to get any repug's attention to the problem of Alzheimer's. Especially the issue of stem-cell research. I've witnessed several family members, including my grandmother, suffer with Alzheimer's. It's a horrible way to spend the remaining years of one's life.

I agree this would be a great way to get the repugs behind it!

I'm sorry to hear about your family members who have had Alzheimers Disease. My mother has it also, but she is happy as a clam. It's a horrible disease for us, but not for her (compared with cancer or some of the other painful diseases).

19. Hmmm....
... ok - I've admitted here before that I voted for Reagan twice.

In 1986, I realized I'd been had (belatedly, I know).

By 1988, I was convinced that Reagan was the worst president we would ever have.

I could simply not have fathomed the loser we have now ever being elected to office. I couldn't believe it when he was elected governor of Texas, and I was positively astounded as he gained in the presidential primaries with all of his stupid platitudes and homilies.

But, Reagan look positively reasonable compared to Bush*. It is hard to believe.

For all intents and purposes he is dead. His corpse is still breathing but he is dead. Some will try to deify him, but whatever they do, his legacy will fade and future historians will put his contributions under the magnifying glass they deserve.

It would be a good idea to name some Alzheimers' research facility after him. I find that far better than naming an airport after him after he destroyed the air traffic controllers' union, which in turn weakened all the unions in the country. I really do wish someone would change that airport back to its former name.
