Poll question: How low will bush's poll #s need to go for BBV to be irrelevant?
Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 06:06 PM by stopbush
Good news today - shrub's poll numbers are dropping like a lead balloon.

We've all believed that the media has been falsely propping up bush's #s with an eye on November - ie: a close election is easier to steal than a landslide.

So, how far does bush have to fall in the polls before a BBV hijacking of the election would be untenable? Please assume the percentages below represent his "re-(s)elect numbers" per likely voters.

1. They'll try no matter what
Question is, will he get "re-elected" and manage to get back into the WH without the people catching on to the fact that they can count on one hand only the number of folks they know of who voted for him.

2. Not to burst anyone's bubble
but Bush's poll numbers are higher than Clintons were at this same time in his term and Clinton easily won reelection. At one point Dole was ahead of Clinton in December of 1995. Unfortunately this kind of poll is typical. Bush has higher numbers than Reagan did right before Reagans landslide. I'm just saying don't get too comfortable.

7. The trend is what matters, not the numbers themselves
Clinton was moving up, Bush is moving down. Reagan also was climbing. BTW, Clinton had crossed the 50 percent threshold in February 1996, so he was not where Bush is now. And Reagan was well over 50 percent in January/February of 1984. I'm not sure what numbers you're talking about.

11. An illustration of your point.
This chart does not include today's 49% results. The problem is how Chimp gets his bumps, OBL will be a good one in October but not enough to save him. He's got to MIHOP again.

3. I've felt for along time that the polls are fixed,
But then again, I think everything is fixed. I've been of polling age for 30 years, they (gallup,cnn,newsweek,etc...) take at least 10 a week, usually 1000 people. I've asked over 20 other people, nobody I know has ever been polled. Strange?

6. I think calling polls "fixed"
when you dont' like them - and then turning around and getting excited and quoting them when you do like them - makes our party look fickle and immature < for lack of better word

10. To clarify, if the BBV system is set to tip
to the gop, they will need to 'adjust' the polls to match the results. Too many discrepancies could cause questions by even our lap dog press.

8. Even if there is no hope of W winning
the repugs will do everything they can to keep the Senate and the House. Any race that is reasonably close, will surprisingly come out for the repug. Of course, they won't let the vote be too close to force a recount and they don't need to cheat in every race. Just enough of them to keep control of Congress.

9. Ossama bin Laden roll out, October 15
Bush I engineered the same thing for Reagan back in 1980 with the Iran hostages. And these guys never stop playing the same trick if it worked before.
