CNN to refund MoveOn.org!
Just got this-

"
Dear MoveOn member,
I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know what happened to "Child's Pay" during the Super Bowl last night.

Hundreds of thousands of us switched over to CNN to watch "Child's Pay" at exactly 8:10 and 8:35pm EST –- the precise times CNN had promised us. The ad actually ran at 8:19 and 8:39pm, still during half-time but not at the exact times promised.

CNN's going to refund a big chunk of the cost for running the ad last night, and that money will be put into running "Child's Pay" in our target states. Despite the hurdles from CBS and CNN, "Child's Pay" will continue to air. Thanks again for being a part of this nation-wide campaign.

Sincerely,
--Eli Pariser

Say what you like about CNN, but they're pretty decent people.

1. saying what I'd want about CNN would cancel the "pretty decent" bit

if CNN botched a deal for anti-drug ads, they'd run a million more for free.

2. It Has Nothing to Do w/ Decency
MoveOn I'm sure had a signed contract from CNN to run the ad at the appropriate time. When you buy ad time on TV it's done w/ a contract. If the station fucks up, they have to make it up to you or risk breaching the contract.

3. they should!
it's not decent of CNN....it's fulfilling their end of a business deal. TV time is expensive and $ should be refunded if the ads are not run (or not run as they are scheduled).

4. well,
seeing as they're the only network that's even airing it, i'm gonna have to say pick your battles. Sure they've got problems and biases like everyone else, but compared side by side with CBS, FOX, NBC, etc, they look a whole lot better.

5. Agreed, people diss CNN way too much
cause at least they are even airing it. I'm sure FOX would laguh and slam the door shut, so would M$RNC.

Cnn does deserve some grief but definetly consumed in a money amking bias as opposed to the right wing whore ideolgical bias.

6. does anyone know ??
i was wondering exactly what was showing on cbs at the orginally scheduled time for the MoveOn ads and exactly what was showing when the ads were actually run ...

perhaps this was just a scheduling mess at CNN ... but wouldn't it be interesting if the original times overlapped with commercials cbs was running and the actual times only conflicted with the half-time show ...

does anyone know ??
