Another Poll- Pittsburgh Post Gazette
"At this point in the 2004 presidential campaign, who would get your vote?"

This one doesn't look good for us at this point. We got some work to do.

5. Because they can influence the slant of the news.
And the more people hear that Bush is losing the more likely it becomes. It is meme warfare, and that is why many Americans still believe Saddam was behind 911. Things like this have a large effect on those who just read headlines and hear sound bites.

6. exactly
Of course they're unscientific, we all know that and we all know they're "horseshit". But you're absolutely right that they are really important. If at the end of the day people in Pittsburgh see that Bush is winning this poll by 61% or some big number they get the idea that Bush's re-election* is inevitable. If they see that he's loosing by some big number they think "god, folks sure are upset. maybe bush* really is a dumbass, one term president like letterman says after all". It's important to work these on-line polls, they mean more than a lot of people think.

Even if Bush loses every single online poll, our "liberal" media will make up some bogus polls in which he does win.

I can just imagine content producers at FOX, CNN, or MSNBC for that matter. "We need some pro-Bush polls!" ..."None, eh? ... well make some up!"
