Is rapid eye blinking by * a sign of lying or just nervousness?
Did anyone notice how much the Shrub blinked his eyes when he was talking about the failure to find WMDs last week?

2. Rapid eye blinking
If his lips are moving therefore he is lying.

3. It's one of his 'tells'
So is stammering, BTW. Did you see his answer in response to the 9/11 question at the press conference a couple of months ago? He could barely put a sentence together to answer it, and was blinking like mad...

6. Yup...
it is one of his BIG tells.

Also, the raising of the eyebrows can be another tell of lying. It's a subconscious attempt to look innocent.

9. I don't know why people say he's such a good liar
I've always thought he was a TERRIBLE liar. In fact, if I played poker against him, I'd OWN him (he'd probably try and bluff all the time...probably never folds...).

11. I agree completely...
he is perhaps one of the worst liars I have seen -- EVERYTHING reads all over his face -- his lying, his disgust, his anger.

That smirk of his says VOLUMNS.

15. Hey I raise my eyebrow (one) all of the time.
Am I a liar or is it just if both eyebrows are raised?

8. You're right. It is a 'tell.'
Another of his tells: When he says something and reacts to his own statements, as if to say, "If you don't agree, you're stupid."

Rapid blinking (like Dean on MTP) is usually a sign of a nervous gambler, who thinks he has a good hand but isn't sure what to do with it.

31. More tells?
It always seems to me that when he's trying to sell something he uses a certain hand gesture -- a sort of slow forward chop with the back of the hand facing the audience and the arm from the elbow to hand horizontal to the body -- anybody know what I mean? He makes several chops as he's trying to make his point. Then we get the smile/smirk when he's done, as if to say, "See what I just proved to you?" (Someone noted above this reacting to his own remarks the way he wants us to react.)

I don't know if the hopping back and forth like a kid about to pee his pants is a tell or just part of his generally subnormal behavior.

18. I picked that music for a number of reasons.
First, it's a well-known song, even though not many people kow the name of the song.

Second, the name of the song is 'Baby Elephant Walk' - a reference to Bush being Poppy's baby.

Third, I wanted to keep the animation lighter and more fun than the usual stuff I do. Glad it worked! :)

Edited on Mon Feb-02-04 12:55 PM by skypilot
Thanks. I'll remember that. Who is it by?

It's fun in the same way as the piece called "The Happy Organ". Are you familiar with that one?

For the first time, I actually believe he DID have advance warning. Watching his response here, there's simply no doubt in my mind he is hiding from the truth. tbtm did a great job with this.

13. Hey, what about the Moral Majority guy?
Remember when the right-wingnuts were sitting around counting how many times Clinton blinked. Then came the moral majority guy spouting things like "first of all, this is a republic not a democracy" and blinking so much it was painful to watch. I've been calling him 'Blinky' so long I can't remember his name.

14. Jerry Falwell? Ralph Reed? Pat Robertson?
Pat Robertson is not strictly Moral Majority, but he is a liar and he is opposed to democracy. So two out of three isn't bad.

16. We know he's lying...
..and he knows he's being trailed by the Democratic hunting dogs -- because he hears the baying -- so we know he's nervous.

I'd say his blinking is coming from both lies and nervousness.

In most hunting exercises, when the hunted is treed up, as **** is now, it's not the time to put away the weapons, it's time to take aim.

The bullets are:
Awol/Deserter
Deficits up the yungyo
9/11 failure to protect America
Stolen Elections
Iraqi invasion

Start Shooting!!

30. Maybe another "pretzel binge?"
Funny that h=no one has ever pointed out (to my knowledge) that pretzels are a favorite munchie for eating with beer - so much so that some bars serve a kind of short fat pretzel called "beer nuts".

29. Of course a lot of lying was going on then as well
Not to mention the guilt about knowing that he was stealing the election. It may not be the lying per se but the guilt which causes the blinking.
