Nothing can change the facts.

When, in May 2001, the conservative legal watchdog group Judicial Watch filed suit to see the records of Dick Cheney's National Energy Policy Development Group (NEPDG), it was the first to protest the unheard of secrecy at the energy task force. As the White House stonewalled, the Government Accounting Office (GAO) filed suit the following February. Congress had, after all, funded the project. Non-governmental officials had played major roles in its deliberations and, under the Constitution, the GAO had an obligation to see how the money was spent and what was produced. White House refusals prompted media speculation about deals with Enron and big oil companies; a divvying of spoils, a rape of the environment. Judicial Watch was later joined in its suit by the Sierra Club. A scandal for everyone!

It's a sure bet that of all the plaintiffs; from Congressman Henry Waxman (D – CA) and Comptroller General David Walker who fought for the GAO; to Judicial Watch's Larry Klayman, who had previously fought Bill Clinton; to the environmentalists, none had a clue as to what they were really asking for or why Dick Cheney fought them so ruthlessly.

5. Not really news on DU, I think....but disturbing nonetheless.

So the fundemental question is, who is going to tell us the truth? When is the "bad news" going to be starkly put in front of the American people? If we started now and made a revolutionary investment into alternative energies and out of oil, we could begin the transformation necessary to deal with these post-peak shocks....so why isn't this a major issue in the campaign?????

CNN is playing the 5 second scene in slow motion while asking if this was "planned". They are outraged, but apparently not enough to stop playing the clip every 15 minutes. :-)

I'm sending this story around to everyone I know. Hell, I'm sending it to Kerry and asking him to comment on what he will do to confront this......everything pales in comparison, I think. This campaign needs to be a referendum on which approach America will take - endless war before lights out (Republican vision) or an opportunity to transform ourselves by using this reality to drive fundemental change in our energy policy and infrastructure (s/b the Democratic vision).

9. With all due respect

I would like to thank Mr. Ruppert for all his research into peak oil, and into CIA drug running and so on. Good work, and your articles have taught me a thing or two.

However, that said, and with all due respect, THIS ARTICLE frustrated the hell out of me...

The last line: "What do you want?" especially makes me more surly than normal.

Again, with all due respect Mr. Ruppert: what the hell does it matter what I want?

I protested the invasion of Iraq. The invasion happened anyway.

I call, write, and email my congressmen. Two of 'em are republicans. They do want they want anyway, which is carrying out the PNAC agenda.

I read books, I try to share what I've learned. And nothing really changes. I mention that I believe Afgahnistan is just about an oil pipeline? A yawn is about all i get in response.

I vote. It doesn't matter or count. Bush is complicit in the attacks of 9.11.01? Oh, that just can't be, is the reaction I get.

So, piss off, asking me what I want. It doesn't matter what I want. I got very little money. I work for a living, so I got very little free time. And patience, well, that is running thin, too.

Sorry, for sounding so defeated. I am normally more positive. However, tonight, I am very disgruntled.

If you want to know what I want: well, I want to find alternative energy sources, and I want people to have enough to eat, and I want kids to have clothes and books. All kids, everywhere. I want justice for victims of crimes. I want everyone to have his/her day in court. I want enough free time to myself to read read read. And write write write. And think. I want to be free of my boring corporate job, that does pay the bills. So why am I bitching?!?!

There you have it. So what?

IN THE ABSENCE OF THE RULE OF LAW, how does one stop the juggernaut of elitist global capital currently plundering the remaining oil reserves? Humanity has never faced such a crisis--and the vast majority is unaware that any such crisis exists.

Who among us has the power and authority to "arrest" the capitalist elites for their past and ON GOING crimes against humanity?
