No Intelligence! Another craptacular Sunday of political talk shows...
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 03:26 PM by johnfunk
...Item two was the intelligence mess -- and it seemed that the Sunday shows were all going out of their way to focus on the notion that the CIA is entirely to blame for the Iraq debaqle. And no, we're not just talking about Chris Wallace's fawning interview with departing US WMD Ferret David Kay (can y'all say "miserable failure").

And isn't it odd that not one member of the press is raising questions about the Office of Special Plans?

You remember the Office of Special Plans, right?

They're that new entity set up Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld to supposedly "vet" intelligence data pertaining to military operations. What they appear to have done with total impunity is to spin, second-guess and selectively filter CIA data with the help of hard-right Neoconservatives near the top of the Smirk Administration food chain, notably the Paul Wolfowitz-Richard Perle Axis of Weasels.

And how many times since the admissions that something may, well, have been amiss with prewar assessments of Iraq's actual WMD capability -- by the likes of Mr. Kay, Secretary of State Colin Powell, National Security Dilettante Condolleeza Rice, and other handlers of El Chimpo Supremo -- have we heard any discussion of all those visits the Vice Halliburton Richard Cheney paid to CIA headquarters?

Yep -- the press hasn't even started to scratch the surface of this story. Lord knows, it's not the clear and present danger to the republic that a chick-magnet President giving in to the temptations of a groupie "intern" could ever be, right?

Right?

It's as if every Sunday is Stupor Bowl Sunday among the Beltway press whores. Press? Oppress is more like it -- they're part of the problem. They're not doing their job, giving America the old "mushroom treatment" -- keeping them in the dark, feeding them plenty of crap.

More on the craptacular Sunday morning shows here!

1. So why isn't this administration held accountable?
They blame 9/11 on bad intel, but Tenet is just fine by George.
Now Iraq-AQ connection and WMD are blamed on CIA....so why hasn't Bush fired Tenet?

This is total BS. Intel is apolitical, it is the politicians who frame it to underpin their actions.

Personally, I think Tenet/Bush are blackmailing each other. Neither can kill the other because both have evidence that'll destroy both men's careers.

2. It's such an obvious whitewash by the media
They're not asking the most obvious fucking questions.

They're totally kissing Kay's ass.

They're just going with everything he's saying, not even questioning it.

The media has failed us completely. They are NOT on the side of the truth, or of the people.

4. I think it was Woolsey on ABC that proclaimed
WE all got it wrong concerning Iraq's WMD. He proceeded to list the WE as including the Russians and French.

My scorecard has so much fecal matter on it that it's hard to read but didn't both Russia and France oppose this war based on no new evidence re: WMD's.

Needless to say none of the jellyfish on the panel countered his assertion as WE all know the CIA fooked up.
