1. It means supplying grand rationalizations for wars, such as "the war to
end all wars," or "This is a war to defend freedom and democracy."

2. Also, the PNACers Try to Gild Themselves with "Idealism"
They claim to want to wage war IN ORDER TO spread democracy, human rights, and all things good. WILSON was for real. These sick pricks are, well, sick.

4. Wait a minute
You're arguing the US should not have become involved in WWI?

5. WWI--117,000 US dead because
well, they're still debating why Wilson got in--freedom of the seas, unrestricted submarine warfare, to have a say at Versailles.

Some wars--World War I, Vietnam--it's just very hard to find defenders--slaughter, horror, and no one knows the reason way, theirs but to do and die.

8. That wasn't the question being asked. But since you bring it up -
WWI was another example of a war that was fought for reasons very different from the officially-supplied ones. It represented an important step in American empire-building. It was used as an excuse for crushing a militant labor movement (IWW). The federal government made great strides in institutionalizing lying and propaganda as standard tools in managing foreign policy (Creel Commission, etc). There were great attacks launched in that period against the quality of our domestic democracy, via the Espionage Act of 1917, & the postwar Palmer Raids & Red Scare. The US emerged from the war the rising star of imperial powers - but a terrible price was paid for this. US participation in the war set many unfortunate precedents, though of course, war profiteers did very well, & Anglo-American interests got their paws onto Middle Eastern oil.

24. don't it also mean
a very divisive HATED president who was gladly dumped out of office by the end.

Wilson cleansed the government of black people...

He opposed womens voting rights, but changed his tune to popular opposition.

He created the horrible antidemocratic federal reserve that to this day is a bastion of white supremecy over democracy.

BTW... RichM... also, very good to see you. I've missed you too.

11. He only ran twice (1912 and 1916) and won both times.
He led the US into WWI in 1917.

Had a stroke in the 2nd term, which was kept secret. Wife was the 1st woman president.

14. Even after the stroke, they wanted to run him for a 3rd term.
He was severely incapacitated, but his wife wanted him to run. The Democratic party refused to give him the nomination.

Also, his failure to compromise with Congress kept the U.S. out of the League of Nations.

15. Wilson helped the people who support * now set up the FRB!
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 11:26 AM by Hubert Flottz
A year after Wilson gave the Federal Reserve Banking system his approval he admitted, that it was the worst mistake he ever made in his life! Check out Fritz and Max Thyssen sometime they were Bush family pals from way back! Check this out Bush IS like Wilson in many ways!

"The Federal Reserve System is not Federal; it has no reserves; and it is not a system at all, but rather, a criminal syndicate. It is the product of criminal syndicalist activity of an international consortium of dynastic families comprising what the author terms "The World Order."

16. Is talking about the lying?
You know, how Wilson promised everyone during his campaign that he wouldn't get us into the war and then he did it? Is he saying that's just like the shrub's lying about the WMDs?

17. It Can Only Mean
that the president is incapacitated and that someone other than the President is running the show. Not that we haven't know this from the start, but maybe Will is just finding this out.

22. I'd have to go with #17, Bob
I think this was a cryptic reference to the players in the administration ; Wilson according to historians was at least partially incapacitated in his second term. This allowed for a great deal of delegation, and corporate lobbyists of the day were known to be making decisions in the White House. Thus we found the gov't breaking up stikes with force--using soldiers and the national guard, and looking the other way while private corporation police squads assasinated and terrorized many labor leaders who were commonly viewed as a threat to profits.

Ironicaly, without the emergence of the middle class as a direct result of labor initiatives, the consumer driven economy of the 21st century would not be propping up the failed leadership of *.

20. Wilson gave us the IRS
and gave the absurdly rich bankers the Federal Reserve, so he is
similar to Bush, who starts wars, panders to the rich, and sets up
oppressive federal bureaucracies.

He also got involved in the Russian Revolution, but I forget the details. Anyone remember the history there?
