Poll question: Would you support prosecuting the Bush cabal for war crimes?
If the Democrats win in '04, would you support the handing over of the Bush/PNAC cabal to the U.N. to be tried for crimes against humanity?

6. Vote no for the following reasons
1. This election is going to be very close & bitter. If we win, we will need to show some sort of reconcciliation with the losers, or we will be in for a very unpleasant 4 years. Name one thing that we could do that would be more divisive?

2. It sets a very bad precedent. If * is guilty of something, we have courts that can try him for it. Courts where he would have the full benefit of our legal protections. I am unconvinced that the UN could, or would, do that. I object, on principle, to any American citizen being tried by a court that does not respect the defendant's legal rights. It's one thing if they go to the country and break their laws and are arrested there. It's another for us to hand them over.

3. No American President, even a Dem, is going to subject another to an international trial. It sets a bad precedent for when HE is out of office. I don't think anyone, no matter how noble his intentions, can run the government without offending some group, somewhere, on the planet. Look at Henry Kissinger, there are still people who want to put him on trial. OK, let's concede that he did very bad, even criminal, things. Let's concede that murde, genocide, etc, have no statue of limitations. Still, it's been a long time since the Vietnam War, or Pinochet. I'm not saying it's right for people to get away with such crimes. What I'm saying is that no one smart enough to be President is going to want to set a precedent that has a good possibility of coming back to bite him personally in the ass. Otherwise, why hasn't * prosecuted Bill Clinton? A lot of Republicans are as convinced of Clinton's crimes (including the murder of Vince Foster, at least that's what they think), as we are of *'s. So, my point here is that the Dem president will resist pressures to do so. This will lead to the bloody in-fighting that we Dems are so very famous for. therfore, I consider it a bad goal to pursue.

4. There is no perfect justice in this world. Pragmatic reasons are just one of the factors. I think we should be satisfied with sending * back to Texas, and get on with making the world a better place, otherwise.

I know that I am going to get flamed. I will read your responses, but I have expressed my opinion as well as I can, so unless someone has a comment that will make me re-consider my position, I do not intend to respond, as I do not have any wish to be provoked into getting myself banned.

9. I disagree
I don't think we can put the murders they've committed behind us in order to make "nice-nice" with the other side.

and show precisely what is wrong with the way the world *really* works.

As far as perfect justice not existing in this world, I'd settle for basic justice when it comes to the bush cabal. That's preferable to the life of luxury that currently awaits them as fruits of their genocidal actions.

11. We hope that the democrat
who is elected will have the balls to order the FBI and u.s. Marshall to arrest bushit and all his cronies. And to make this order the first statement in his inaugural address.
The second statement would be an executive order abolishing EVERYTHING bushit has signed. This includes the homeland insecurity law and tax cuts.

I suggest we give him to the Iraqi people for a citizens tribunal made up victims of his oil war. Or, if we want a domestic solution, give him to a tribunal of WTC victim relatives.

Please remember that Bush has already approved of using tribunals for terrorists. What's good for the goose is good gander.
