Will Rove have to turn Bush into a born-again liberal to stand a chance?
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 04:42 AM by TruthIsAll
Can Bush reinvent himself? Can his image change from corporate bootlicker and arrogant dunce to that of a statesman?

Will Rove move him to the center, even nudge him to the left? Can he elicit from Shrub the JFK charisma, the Clinton smarts, the Carter compassion, the Truman honesty, the LBJ passion?

In other words, can he make Bush into a Democrat?

Can Rove perform a DNA transplant on Bush? Can he make us turn from hate to love? Can Rove make us forget about Shrub's lies and smirks and stupid comments?

Maybe Bush went AWOL to serve a higher calling. Maybe he sat in the Booker school to protect the children. Maybe he knew nothing about Jebbie's Florida shenanigans. Maybe he really believes that Jesus loves us as much as him. Maybe he was really fed bad intel on Iraq WMD.

Maybe his cabinet let him down. Maybe he sees the error of his ways. Maybe he read O'Neill's book. Maybe he won't give the Coprorate Fascists every thing they ask for.

Maybe he will fight for solar energy and take away that SUV tax break. Maybe he'll tell Carlyle and Halliburton to go to hell.

Maybe he'll do what Nixon did: ask for the immediate resignation of his entire cabinet and replace them with Kennedy liberals. After all, that's the only way he can win.

He's got to really fool us one more time into believing that he truly is a compassionate conservative turned liberal who will leave no child behind and who cares about the Iraqi children and the unemployed and uninsured in this country.

Maybe he really does care about fair play.

All Rove has to do is tell the media that Bush has had an epiphany.
He has seen Christ. And he now realizes that Christ was a liberal.

1. I thought Bush ran as a Dem last time.
Lets face it what the Dem have put into govt. most people want and have also voted it in, in all Western countries. No one likes taxes but almost every knows a pooled tax is needed to buy the inter structure in a modern society. All you have to look at is a very small town and try to figure out how you could build the road to the nearest store. The cowboy 'loner' did not build this country know matter how much they movies tell us that. Bush will run like last time, as a spending Dem. which we seem to not be any more, unless we have the money that is.

3. no need
All he need do is watch Democrats try to appeal to Republicans in order to know that he has set the agenda.

Then there's that little matter about electoral fraud. Black box voting, anyone?

4. Rover "reinvents" boosh* EVERY election
Now, he's slithering back towards the center. It shouldn't be unexpected. Molly Ivins tagged it, how boosh* runs as a centrist, then governs from the hard-right after the election.

5. I hope they do
Because no liberal in their right mind is going to vote for this assclown.

All it does is piss off the base of conservatives.

Soon, he'll succeed in alienating everyone.

6. "Soon, he'll succeed in alienating everyone." Very likely.
I just hope it occurs before November.

7. Any day now, Bush will quote HST or JFK.
Rove will try to transform his image from that of reluctant cold-warrior to peacemaker.

He will announce that we are pulling out of Iraq.

But, depending, on the polls, we may see him "reluctantly" Wag the Dog into Syria or Iran.
