This seems like Bush's relection strategy:
"I was too stupid to know I was being misled by all these other people around me who didn't do their jobs right. So vote for me and I'll surround myself with some fresh people and see if I can get it right this time."

That's basically what it amounts to. Of course little Jr. is not to blame for anything, it's all "someone elses fault".

Weak, if you ask me.

Fool me again, shame on me

3. Again....
*f all of the candidates picked up on this and started criticizing Bush for never taking responsibility for ANYthing, maybe they'd continue to chip away at his so-called popularity.
Only Wes Clark has been really outspoken on this issue, and all of them should be hammering Bush for it on this one point:
He wanted this position bad enough to STEAL it, and now he wants us to accept that he's not responsible for anything that's gone wrong since he did. He expects us to accept excuses we wouldn't accept from six-year-old children, but then wants our support for four MORE years of this insanity?

5. Um
his whole response to charges in 2000 that he had no foreign policy experience was that he would surround himself with good people. Well, we now see the consequences of having a president with no foreign policy experience. He doesn't have the brains to say NO to his "good people" or to ask them critical questions. The "good people" he pledged to surround himself with did not perform. Why should we trust him to pick new "good people" in the next 4 years?

8. Good point!
It does not matter if you surround yourself with the best IQ's in the world, if you don't have the brains to listen to them! You just as well have a bunch of cabbages around you.....well, that is the least offensive name that I can call them!

7. I just can't believe that's going to fly as an excuse
Maybe with die hard conservatives that are going to vote for him no matter what, but not with swing voters and Independents.

9. It worked for Reagan, didn't it?
"I don't recall"
"I don't recall"
"I don't recall"
...

When faced with the choice of being complicit in a crime (Iran/Contra) or looking stupid, he chose stupid. That's an easy choice for Bush.

As he stated in the previous SOTU: "British Intelligence has learned..."

He'll try and pin it on Blair, thereby effectively hanging the ol' boy.

14. But, this is par for the course for the personal responsibility prez!
He is great at blaming others for his screw-ups.
This man has not been held accountable for his actions since prep school, if even then.

He is a spoiled, rich boy who is a gutless coward in the hands of the Christian Right (4th reich)and PNAC conning neos. he may be a friggin'idiot, but it doesn't make him any less dangerous an idiot.

his reelection bid will be divisive issues and calling everyone else traitors.

15. You know what's always killed me about Bush?
Edited on Sun Feb-01-04 12:47 AM by Cat Atomic
Even his supporters acknowledge the fact that he's an idiot. I don't how many pundits I've heard making arguments about
'heart vs. brains', or how 'great leaders aren't geniuses, they just surround themselves with great advisors', or any of a hundred other excuses.

Right out of the gate, people were talking about how experienced Rumsfeld is, or how brainy Rice is, or how trustworthy Powell is, etc., etc.- and it was always said after Bush made some new verbal gaffe. Like, "yeah, he's a moron, but his advisors sure are pros".

There's always been this widespread recognition of the fact that Bush is just a smiling fool who's only real purpose is to be a conduit to power for his Cabinet.
