13. Democrats Increase Pressure on Scalia
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 04:17 PM by mr_pique
Cheney has recently been hunting with Scalia while a case is pending
before the court. If your in trouble there is nothing like having the judge as a bud. This is dignity and integrity?

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=558&e=5&u=/ap/scalia_cheney

WASHINGTON - Democrats are increasing their pressure on Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia to step aside from considering a case involving his friend, Vice President Dick Cheney .

The Supreme Court agreed last month to take up Cheney's appeal in a case that involves his refusal to disclose the identities of members of his energy task force. Three weeks later, Scalia and Cheney went duck hunting together in the marshes of southern Louisiana.

The case is In re Cheney, 03-475.

21. White House won't release 7/6/2001 Daily Briefing
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 04:21 PM by mr_pique
Bush is covering up his Aug 6, 2001 Daily Briefing because he was
warned that OBL would use airliners to fly into buildings. At one time
he was told the WTC was a target. The commission has threated to subpoena the 7/6/01 Daily Briefing but the White House refuses to release it.

White House Holding Notes Taken by 9/11 Commission
Panel May Subpoena Its Summaries of Bush Briefings

Saturday, January 31, 2004; Page A02

The White House, already embroiled in a public fight over the deadline for an independent commission's investigation of the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, is refusing to give the panel notes on presidential briefing papers taken by some of its own members, officials said this week.

The standoff has prompted the 10-member commission to consider issuing subpoenas for the notes and has further soured relations between the Bush administration and the bipartisan panel, according to sources familiar with the issue. Lack of access to the materials would mean that the information they contain could not be included in a final report about the attacks, several officials said.

The latest dispute stems from an agreement reached in November that allowed a four-member team from the commission to examine highly classified documents known as the President's Daily Brief (PDB), including a controversial August 2001 memo that discusses the possibility of airline hijackings by al Qaeda terrorists. The deal allowed the team -- made up of three commission members and Executive Director Philip D. Zelikow -- to take notes on the materials that would be passed along to the rest of the commission, but only after the White House gave its approval.

43. He gets a daily briefing regardless where he is
Maybe the Bush team dismissed warning signals as the discoveries of an overly hyped up Clinton team. But John Dean, who has become a guide to deciphering reports on 9/11, says this is unlikely. Condi Rice, Bush's national security adviser, "stated in a May 16, 2002, press briefing that, on August 6, 2001, the President Daily Brief (PDB) included information about Bin Laden's methods of operation from a historical perspective dating back to 1997."

30. N.Y. Times wants to silence Kucinich and Sharpton
Edited on Sat Jan-31-04 04:18 PM by mr_pique
CBS stopped covering Kucinich after he pointed out the waste of time and stupid questions of Ted Koppel during a debate. Now the Times wants to shut up Kucinich and Sharpton because they are articulate and make too much sense.

http://www.nytimes.com/2004/01/28/opinion/28WED1.html

January 28, 2004

Senator John Kerry is now the unchallenged front-runner in the race for the Democratic presidential nomination. But it would be ridiculous for the party to settle on a candidate because he managed to win the biggest slice of the vote in one small state that happens to be next-door to his home base. When larger, more diverse states start holding their primaries next week, the voters deserve to have a real choice.

Representative Dennis Kucinich has every right to keep campaigning despite his minuscule vote tallies, but he should not be allowed to take up time in future candidate debates. Neither should the Rev. Al Sharpton, who is running to continue running, not to win. Sponsors should also consider whether Senator Joseph Lieberman will continue to be a credible candidate. Mr. Lieberman and Mr. Clark both skipped Iowa to concentrate on New Hampshire, without making much of a dent. But Mr. Clark's supporters have a right to hope that his candidacy will improve with experience. Since Senator Lieberman has already run for vice president, he appears to have hit his ceiling.

So much for the "Liberal Media" LIE
The big media is owned by huge corporations who have an interest in establishment politicians, who will protect them, and explains why CBS and the Times, and others, want to keep the status quo be they Democrat or Repuglican.

Truth catching up to Bush

Regardless of who emerges as the Democratic presidential nominee, the race has already served its greater democratic purpose: It has blown away George W. Bush's wartime aura of patriotic infallibility.

"The U.S. is facing a crisis of international legitimacy," writes Robert Kagan, the respected analyst at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, in the upcoming spring issue of Foreign Affairs magazine.

I hope there will be real change in direction but as one distinguished

Democrats will back the nominee regardless of who is chosen.

WEST PALM BEACH -- State Attorney Barry Krischer on Thursday accused Attorney General Charlie Crist's office of trying to impede the Rush Limbaugh prescription fraud investigation for political reasons.

"We obviously think that was to put us into a position so we could not respond," Edmondson said. A prosecutor from Krischer's office was able to file the brief in time.

Bush planned Iraq 'regime change' before becoming President
By Neil Mackay

A SECRET blueprint for US global domination reveals that President Bush and his cabinet were planning a premeditated attack on Iraq to secure 'regime change' even
before he took power in January 2001.

The blueprint, uncovered by the Sunday Herald, for the creation of a 'global Pax Americana' was drawn up for Dick Cheney (now vice- president), Donald Rumsfeld
(defence secretary), Paul Wolfowitz (Rumsfeld's deputy), George W Bush's younger brother Jeb and Lewis Libby (Cheney's chief of staff). The document, entitled
Rebuilding America's Defences: Strategies, Forces And Resources For A New Century, was written in September 2000 by the neo-conservative think-tank Project for the
New American Century (PNAC).

If you want to know why 9/11 was allowed to happen you may not have to look any further than the Oval Office.

A little more than a month before the attack, in his Aug. 6 daily intelligence briefing, Bush was "told that morning of the al-Qaida terror network's interest in conducting a strike within the U.S., and that it might involve highjacked airplanes," reports the Wall Street Journal (7/24/03.)

66. In case anyone hasn't seen Diane Sawyer's explanation of Dean
and the "scream," here's something you'll want to look at which was posted in G.D.:

http://abclocal.go.com/wabc/news/wabc_2004vote_012904dean.html

It was there for a couple of days, and relates the info. that the hand held mike filtered out all the background noise, which was discussed by "nostamj" right before SoCalDem's call.

You'll be so glad you saw it, I'm sure. It's a MIRACLE no one else on tv has bothered to correct the attacks made on this man.

Thank you to "J. from Brooklyn."

Thanks to "JoLinda," great call.

70. Bush Regime helped bin Laden family escape from US
http://www.nationalreview.com/york/york091102.asp

The bin Ladens' Great Escape
How the U.S. helped Osama's family leave the country after 9/11.

The plane was an aircraft chartered by the Saudi government in the days after the terrorist attacks. The individuals were two dozen members of Osama bin Laden's extended family who had been living in the United States. Saying they were afraid that family members might suffer retribution in the U.S., the Saudis asked for American assistance in getting them out of the country. With the help of the FBI, the Saudis and the bin Laden family chartered an aircraft to pick up family members in Los Angeles, Orlando, and Washington, D.C. The bin Laden plane then flew the relatives to Boston, where - one week after the attacks - the group left Logan Airport bound for Jeddah.

At the time, the massive 9/11 investigation was just beginning. The government had begun detaining hundreds of people who were held for days, weeks, or months while U.S. agents performed extensive background checks and interviews. In addition, the government announced its intention to question thousands of men from Muslim countries who might simply have known something of interest to the investigation. "The Department of Justice is waging a deliberate campaign of arrest and detention to protect American lives," Attorney General John Ashcroft said on November 27.

But the bin Ladens did not have to worry about that.

If we don't allow them to question and think as children, they are perfect fodder for the republican trifecta.

And their numbers are growing rapidly.

Typical Repuglican tactic you can hear every day. They claim to be "independent" but will defend the indefensible criminal lies used to
send the country to war on false pretenses. To top it off he doesn't believe David Kay and you know he wouldn't believe the UN Weapons Inspectors.

http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=1514&e=9&u=/afp/iraq_us_weapons_britain
Ex-UN inspector not surprised that no WMD found in Iraq

Bush STILL must know something we don't know. Well, it's about time he let us in on the secret. I believe the secret is PNAC,
a plan for war in Iraq, and other countries, written in 2000.
