Remember the "Clinton was the first President pardoned . . ."?
The gist of the e-mail sent around was that "Clinton was a draft-dodger, and he was pardoned by Carter."

It then outlines that he DIDN'T dodge the draft, but actually signed up and didn't show up when called.

Although this has been debunked several times over, the dittododos still dredge it up.

I ran across this again while trying to see if there were any claims that Charlie Daniels EVER EVER EVER! served in the military.

Then a thought struck me. According to them, Clinton signed up for ROTC to avoid serving, then didn't show up when he was supposed to.

Most of the thinking public that has any idea of W's record know that W deserted (although quite a few of them will go to their grave before admitting it!), not showing up for the last x.y years of his duty.

Could we play on this one and say that W got out of being tried for desertion because . . . (drumroll please)

A DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENT PARDONED HIM FOR HIS DESERTION!

Talk amongst yourselves . . .

1. The right needs to let it go as regards to Clinton
He's not president anymore, and he won't likely ever run for any public office again.
I personally miss having a president who only lied about his sex life. It beat one who lies about everything else any day.

2. Nope, Nixon was the first...
...pardoned by Ford for any crimes he "may have" committed while in office. So even if the Carter pardon applies (it doesn't, since Clinton didn't dodge the draft illegally), Clinton wasn't president when he committed the alleged crime.

It's all discussed on there.

See you have to first commit a felony and be convicted of a felony before you can be pardoned for a felony.

Since Clinton never committed a felony, was never charged with one, and was never convicted of one, it's an impossibility for him to be pardoned for one.

4. On the other hand, Oliver North claims that...
since he had his conviction reversed on a technicality, he was never a felon. Technically correct, but morally he was and still is a felon and a traitor to the USA.
