2. There were about seven candidates...
...on the republican ballot and you can write in a name if you want. Dems got about three or four percent of that protest vote incidentally.

3. Most were write-ins for Kerry, Clark, Edwards, Lieberman
Also a guy named Buchanan (not Pat) was on the ballot and got some votes.

I don't have the link - it may have been on a thread in the 2004 Primary Discussion Forum.

5. Thanks!
Wow!

I also like the fact that 11 people voted for Al Sharpton.

6. Wow, 60,000 republicans came out in the cold to vote?
There was no point to their voting, but they came out and voted anyway. Never underestimate dedicated Bushbots.

7. After winning 85% of the vote
What more could Bush* want?

probably the names of the other 15%

(I know it's an old joke but probably appropriate)

8. steviet's link above contains data that ought to alarm Karl Rove:
John Kerry finished second in the Republican primary, with 1420 write-in votes.

Howard Dean finished third, with 974 write-in votes.

Wesley Clark finished fourth, with 851 write-in votes.

Our top three finishers also finished ahead of every single Republican not named George W. Bush.

John Edwards finished seventh, with 808 write-in votes.

Joe Lieberman finished tenth, with 511 write-in votes.

Thta's 4,500 registered Republicans who wrote in a Democrat on their ballot.

That ought to scare the crap out of Karl Rove.B-)

9. John Buchanan was the repub w/ the next highest votes...
And he waged a WONDERFUL campaign. He has posted on DU on many occasions, and agrees with our (majority) values.

His campaign ran on 9/11 lies and Iraq War lies, especially condemning "Mission Accomplished".

Yes...it's pretty remarkable when such a "popular" :puke: president only gets 85% of the primary vote for his own party.

If we didn't have voting machine shenanigans going on during the general election, I have NO DOUBT shrub would be toast this time.

I hope there are still enough voting machines left that are NOT totally corrupted that we can still get him out of office and take back the legislative branch, as well.

But after reading the research on the voting machines, I'm not as optimistic about a true accounting of our votes as I wish I was.
