Question about fast I.D. of 9/11 hijackers...
Does anyone remember hearing any explanation on how they were able to identify most or all of these guys within a couple of hours (and finding Atta's car so quickly)?

Yes I know about the claim his passport was found in the WTC rubble.
Such a miracle.

4. What about the commission yesterday
Saying examination of the travel documents of the 20 hijackers indicated that there was plenty of evidence of fraudulent passports and ID's.

Think about this for a moment, please.

Where did they find the 20 guys travel documents? I thought they were all incinerated in the crash?

I haven't read the reports in a while, but the initial rapid-find of the hijackers, complete with photographs, and the unscathed passport of Mohammed Atta fluttering to the sidewalk in Manhattan...yeah, right. That's all I'm saying.

7. The discovery of the car at the Boston Airport
always seemed like the type of circumstantial evidence that Robert Ludlum's characters were always getting entrapped by. It was "too perfect." Anyone dumb enough to leave that kind of evidence lying around would be too dumb to pull off such a major attack.

It is also quite likely that only the actual hijacker pilots knew that these were suicide missions.

19. Yeah, but...
Why would they care about leaving evidence around? They were on a suicide mission. They weren't trying to rob a bank or something...

14. Interesting link as is the one it came from, at the top
I can agree with some of it and puzzle at much but there are some parts I don't find very credible. I've been a pilot and flight instructor for 40 years and can tell you that hitting a building isn't nearly as difficult as many people think. I know of a guy who had never touched the controls of a plane but was an accomplished Microsoft Flight Simulator player - by way of experiment he was allowed to fly an Airbus 320 simulator (a real, full size genuine one) and was able to successfully "land" it with no problem whatsoever. And flight attendants do not routinely check to see which passengers are sitting in their "assigned" seats. Not unless there is some dispute. I'll poke around some more, thanks.

8. But they said it was found in the rubble
and the photos they showed on the news had it looking kind of charred.

I remember from the early reporting. They've changed their story.

18. Was it Atta . . . or could it be Satan?
Here's a link to an article in "The Guardian" that says the passport was Atta's:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/september11/story/0,11209,669961,00.html

And here's a link to ABC that claims the "magic" passport belonged to one Satan Suqami:

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/WTC_MAIN010912.html

I remember reading in print about the Feds finding Atta's passport within blocks of the WTC, but I can't find an NYT, BG, or WaPo link to confirm.

Passport discovery

Rescue workers sifting through the tons of rubble earlier discovered a passport belonging to one of the suspected hijackers a few blocks from where the World Trade Center's twin towers once stood.

New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik said investigators would probably be unable to identify the hijackers, because there were unlikely to be enough of their remains left to test.

12. Found another by backtracking through linkis
http://abcnews.go.com/sections/us/DailyNews/WTC_MAIN010912.html

Only this one says that it wasn't Atta's passport but someone else's. Still, they're claiming to have found a recognizable passport that would have been inside a plane that crashed and burned at 4,000 degrees--unless the owner tossed it out a window just before impact.

13. I did a google search and found that
The passport "found in the rubble" was not that of Mohammad Atta, but of another "hijacker" Satam Al Suqami. http://911research.wtc7.net/disinfo/deceptions/passport.html

15. Well, it must have been someone else's then. I clearly recall hearing
reports that the passport of ONE of them was found at the WTC. Does anybody else remember this?...I really don't think I dreamed it.

20. the stewardess who was on the phone spoke of the seat numbers
I heard her on the radio today (turned it off after a minute.....too grisly), but it's been said she revealed the seat numbers of the highjackers, and that went a long way to ID'ing them.

there was a thread on this the other day.

didn't they discuss that aspect?

21. Okay, it seems there were various stories. I was getting second hand
information for a few days, being stuck (grounded) in Detroit. Didn't have access to a computer until they let us fly home.
