CIA/Bulgarian Nurses/400 Lybia children given (?) AIDS injections?

Sorry for the subject line there was no other way to get all of that in there. Anyone know anything about this? Heard about it before?

I saw this on BBC world news a couple of nights ago and was amazed not only at the lack of coverage of this but the ghastly accusations. I understand that the charges were made by Gaddafi so maybe it is just an outrageous lie but the whole thing is very odd to me. BTW- If there is a link to the actual report telecast I would skip it, it has to be the most monotoned and boring news report I have ever seen.

End in sight for Libya Aids trial

The trial in Libya of five nurses and a doctor from Bulgaria charged with deliberately giving the Aids virus to 400 children may soon be over.

The medics are accused by the Libyan leader, Colonel Gaddafi, of taking orders from the CIA and the Israeli secret service, Mossad.
The trial has been going on in the city of Benghazi for almost five years.

But for the past five years, it has been an accepted fact in Libya - a theory put forward by Colonel Gaddafi himself, and used as the basis for the trial of the six Bulgarians.

The nurses have called expert witnesses, including one of the team which discovered the Aids virus, who said this was an epidemic caused by poor hygiene at the hospital, not by any international conspiracy.

The Bulgarians did sign confessions, but they told me they were tortured by the police, with daily beatings, sexual assault and electric shocks.

Western diplomats say the prosecutions arose because the authorities simply needed someone to blame for a tragedy which has caused outrage in Libya - more than 400 children infected in Benghazi.

3. It is nonsense
It's nonsense. Qadahffi did not want to admit that some of his people may have gotten aids from sex or drugs so he created this story. The poor doctors are nothing but scapegoats. They came to libya to help and got caught up in this.

The Libyan press has long been full of this stuff including warning that Pepsi contains pig parts and is part of an Israelie scheme to poison Muslims, and the Mossad placing listening devices inside of turtles, which were then released into Libya to wander around and eavesdrop.

It's as out there as Larouche's rantings about the Queen of England and Drugs.

yep and the Soviets bugged a pet dog. The dog was "found out" immediately when after it appeared back home after disappearing for several days and it seemed drugged and disoriented. The cat was run over by a car when it was released. OOPS.

BTW, the "bugged" Turtles were not pets.

9. Perhaps what you find odd...

is the underlying fact that Gaddafi also appears to have rape rooms, tortures people and has killed Americans, yet it's ok to take the step towards resuming normal relations with him. Saddam allowed inspectors back into Iraq, stated his WMD's were destroyed yet we invade his country anyway. Gaddafi allows inspectors back into Libya, agrees to have his WMD's destroyed, and suddenly he's our crazy, insane buddy again.

But hey, Gaddafi couldn't be too bad of a guy if Cheney was doing business with him despite the sanctions, eh?

This is a perfect example of how the rest of the world sees the hypocrisy of our foreign policy.

"Odd" doesn't even begin to describe it.
