So did your "Local" Clear Channel station mention Botox today?
Normally I never listen to CC stations but my clock alarm radio has lousy reception and sometimes I land on one in frusteration.

Anyway I get the feeling that every morning show gets a fax/email containing the daily Liberal diss. Sort of an outline using key words and phrases to brainwash their millions of listeners.

So mine used Botox to attack, in a supposedly "funny" manner, a Dem candidate AND there was a piece using the term "White Trash" (Repeatedly and it almost went into a Eugenics mode...) to describe people involved in an "incident", with a cat, that the host allegedly witnessed.

Botox today? "White Trash"?

1. You are correct about the fax thing
Many morning shows that are not creative enough to come up with their own material subscribe to a daily prep fax/email, complete with headlines from news events, entertainment tidbits and your usual weird stories. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

But, here's the kicker. Many of them also add 'jokes' under the newsbits. Sad thing is, many stations actually READ the jokes, which are often far from funny. I can tell when a station uses a prep sheet when I hear the same lame joke used.

I know all this because I used to work in radio and did the overnight shift for awhile. I often pulled the prep sheet off the fax for the morning guys who came in after me. I cringed at some of the bad, crappy humor that someone is obviously paying too much money for. And beleive me, the prep sheets ain't cheap!

3. I can imagine that it's a common practice. What concerns me...
...though is it seems lock step anti-Liberal/Progressive/Dem.

Rarely any truly negative Bush cracks, just Dems. Were the preps sheets you used overtly politically biased?

4. This was back in the mid-90s

Lots of Clinton jokes. Not many high-profile Repugs that were deemed newsworthy, except maybe Dole.

Not overtly political. Mostly entertainment, criminal trial du jour and weird news stories.

I just think radio people are afraid to attack Bush. Many are still living in late 2001, I guess. Too bad. Bush is a goldmine for jokes.

I think they just seem to rip off Leno a lot.

2. In my area
I have no choice but to listen to CC. Where I live there are 5 CC stations in the area. I live in a very small town and that's about all I can pick up on the radio. At least the rock station avoids politics. For now anyway.

6. Not in my town
The rock station is the worst offender. Our local radio behemoth is Cumulus Media. They own 3 or 4 stations, all with the same daily dis of liberals. But the rock station is by far the most strident, jingoistic, sexist, and generally obnoxious. Clearly catering to the testosterone crowd. Ugh.

7. No Clear Channel in Kansas City, but one of the CC imititations did
Bright and early. Jumped right in there, trying to manage and direct public perception of the target Democrat.

Loathesome. Stupid. Sneaky. Typical.

Here's a list of their holdings:

One article I saw said it's right behind Clear Channel and Cox.

11. Yesterday, or 1/28/04, anyone else hear this spin?
Saying Kerry was using botox and playing some clip where he said he hadn't heard of the allegation, and then they took that to mean he had never heard of botox and started to demean him for that.
