"While Atlanta gained ground in the job market last year, mass layoffs those involving at least 50 workers produced 7,121 more jobless claims in Georgia than in 2002.

Only the state of New York, which had 8,005 more claims from laid-off workers than in 2002, had a larger increase than Georgia. ``The rest of the state is really struggling,'' Wald said. ``You really are getting the two Georgias in the numbers again.''"
