Dennis Droppings: Ignorant Pseudo-Sahl Quoted at salon.com
(That's Dennis Miller, Kucinich fans. ;) )

http://www.salon.com/ent/col/fix/2004/01/27/tues/index.html

"If you want somebody to repair your roads, educate your kids, or purify your water supply, you may want to turn to private enterprise, but if you want massive f***loads of your enemies wiped out in record time, Uncle Sam is the man for you."

"The French, you might as well gas up the dinghy and go fishing with Fredo because you are dead to me, okay. You know something? These pricks are now putting -- they're putting swastikas on our flag in France. You've got all those boys buried in Normandy. And after we had the good taste to chisel the armpit hair off the Statue of Liberty you gave us, you know something, I always thought that tint was oxidized copper. Little did I know it was green with envy."

"Listen, I would call the French scum bags, but that, of course, would be a disservice to bags filled with scum."

"I don't know what I think of George W. Bush when he first got in, but I've grown fond of the man, and maybe it's the times we live in. They say he's not an environmentalist. But every time I see his ranch on TV, it looks pretty nice. You know something, if we all took care of our own, we'd have a great environment."

"As for what many are calling racial profiling in the aftermath of September 11th, well, get ready to be pissed off, you ACLU-F***ing-Morons, we're dealing with a massive threat and limited manpower, so, you want them to check everybody out equally? Sure, fine okay, but let's at least compromise and put the Swedish dwarf a little further down the list than the Iraqi explosives expert carrying a Belgian passport with more eraser marks on it than Kid Rock's trig final."

"There's a lot of differing data (about global warming), but as far as I can gather, over the last hundred years the temperature on this planet has gone up 1.8 degrees. Am I the only one who finds that amazingly stable? I could go back to my hotel room tonight and futz with the thermostat for three to four hours. I could not detect that difference."

"I'll say this about the war protesters: At least most of them are only putting duct tape across their mouths so I can still tell the rest of them to blow it out their ass."

3. Have a freedom fry and die
Bash those French. I say Busch is a Nazi myself. I should say American Nazi, I would not want to offend Nazis everywhere. It is big business all the way. Big media. Big energy. Big pills. Big insurance. Big farms. Big timber. If it isn't big, tax it.

The article is totally Repug-nant.

8. Yes, bash those French
Miller does get one thing right when he bashes the French, or more appropriately, the French government.

France has not been anything like an ally of the U.S. since the end of WWI. Witness:

1) In WWII the French response to being overrun was pretty much along the lines of, "OK, if you'll let us run a part of our country, we'll throw our Jews in on the deal."

2) Those few U.S. servicemen who escaped from the Phillipines to Vietnam (then known as French Indochina) during WWII were promptly rounded up by French colonial authorities and turned over to the Japanese army.

3) When the U.S. invaded North Africa in 1942 the troops defending the shores were French.

4) In the '60s France pulled out of the Nato military alliance and ejected U.S. troops.

5) France denied overflight to the U.S. during the raid on Lybia.

Now, before anyone takes out after me about the justification for any or all of these actions, let's get straight about one thing. I'm not necessarily saying those decisions were wrong or unjustified, I'm just saying that they are not the actions of an ally. Those who contend that France is a long-standing ally of the U.S. have not being paying attention to history.

All three actions were those of the Vichy french government and not representative of the free french who struggled along with all the allies, against germany and the nazis....one might wonder at your attempt at spin?

France has more experience with arab militancy and terrorism than does the US, as a student of history such as yourself might understand. Their stance on the invasion of Iraq was proven to be accurate and we should have taken their advice.

You must surround yourself with sycophants and yes men as you seem to think that being ones ally implies simply rubberstamping every decision regardless of personal opinion or experience.

13. not very confused
I well understand that there were Free French forces which fought alongside the allies and that there was also a French underground which made important contributions to the war effort. However; I also well understand that the number of collaborators greatly exceeded those who actively resisted the Nazis. At the time we invaded North Africa there were more French (Vichy) under arms on the side of the Axis than in the Free French forces.

The history of French governmental cooperation with the Nazi Germany in rounding up Jews for deportation to the death camps is every bit as well documented as it is shameful. Look to Denmark or Holland for the sake of comparison. It is the difference between being subjugated by a superior force and being toadies.

Finally, I don't believe that being an ally "implies ... rubberstamping every decision". However; it is hard to see how a nation can actively work for the side of one's adversaries and still be an ally. This is exactly what France has done for decades.

4. There is one question I don't get
Say you're a smart conversative. You really feel the war on terror is neccessary. I can really genuinely imagine a person like this. What I don't get, is why you go down on your knees for Bush.

The man is an idiot, and pretending he's not is just astounding.

9. That damn liberal media at it again.
Sigh.

The truth is that many Americans are going to watch his show and end up agreeing with him. We need to deal with the media problem. But, I don't know how.

11. Dennis throughout the ages:
"I just got back from a show at the Coliseum. If there's one thing I enjoy more than sex it's seeing a Christian mauled by a tiger. That just brightens up my day. It's great to see the Emperor's thumb go down like a transsexual prostitute on Hugh Grant!"

"As for this so-called holy war in the Middle East, those whining liberal heathens that occupy most of the Holy Land should shut the f*** up and let the Lord into their hearts. I've got no problem with our boys doing it for them, especially if they do it with a broadsword, am I right, Your Holiness?"

"There's a lot of crap being spread around today about ol' Hernando Cortés and what he's doing in New Spain. Well, folks, I've heard the accusations, and if Mexico is anything like they say it is, I'm buying a boat and getting on that golden Aztec gravy train. And hey, let's remember that the Mexicans invited us in. You'd have to be dumber than Ed Koch's lovechild with Susan Day to let a group of armed Spaniards into your city. Those people f***ing deserved to die, alright."

"You know, if I hear one more whiny abolitionist scream about how unfair slavery is I'm going to go medieval on their ass faster than Tammy Faye at a Mary Kay convention."

"Listen, I didn't know what to think of Adolf Hitler when he first came into office, but I have grown quite fond of our Führer. People say he's a racist and a murderer. Well, you know what folks, when I walk around the streets and don't see a single minority, I think, "The man must be doing something right."

This why Dennis Miller is NOT and has NEVER been funny. His "jokes" and "rants" are FAR too contrived and tortured. He or his writers seem to think that the more words they throw in the funnier it will be. It's just drawn out, pretensious shit.
