Speaking about JFK running for President He went to a Bastist church to tell them his loyalty was to the state and not his Church.

1. Dick Durbin is so
eloquent and such a great senator. He's one of the most honorable men in that body, and I have great respect for him.

6. and Sanatorum
of course Durbin's spanking him back he even took up for Feinstein he got her exact words from her staff and read them.....seems Sanatorum made some things up about what she said earlier. Of course she wasn't on the floor at the time to take up for herself. Durbin had her back!!

11. thanks!
you know this guy Pryor is bad news isn't he? He is another federalist as many of *Bush's nominees are.

I think the pukes are playing this religion card to deflect from the crummy right-wing record this guy Pryor has. I think if Further investigation had of been allowed something was going to show up and That's why Hatch shoved that vote onto them in committee, these thuglicans don't fool me one bit! I'd bet some serious money on it.

Now Reid is up a absence of a quorum

Senator Durbin did good I wouldn't of done so well. Senator Durbin is one of the good guys! All you people that have him for a Senator did good picking him.

Yuck, Frist is up!

9. Harry Reid
he had kind words to say about Durbin. He said that the people of Illinois should feel lucky to have such a prize. We have such a nice Democratic whip :P

13. Durbin's a Great Senator
I was glad he came up. After listening to Hatch and Sessions lie and spew, it was nice to listen to someone that actually made sense.

15. There was a special convocation of religious leaders yesterday
responding to that ad (with the sign on a courthouse door "Catholics need not apply"). I don't remember who put the ad on tv or where it was aired, but Orrin Hatch was utterly disgusting in the Judiciary Committee where a lot of these same things were discussed. Schumer was eloquent also, and Leahy.

Anyway, I highly recommend going to C-Span and looking for the video of this meeting of the Interfaith Council (I think it's "Council"). The date would be 7-29-03. Durbin and Leahy spoke. Also Rabbi Modine, a woman Episcopal priest, and 2 others. All amazing--about the separation of church and state. As I listened, I was hoping that this would lead to a more general questioning of the religious right's takeover of the political dialog. It may, if enough people are listening. Things are happening awfully fast in America these days, and some of these things (like the future of the judiciary) may be irreversible. I myself have been so obsessed by the Iraq issue (important of course) that I wasn't paying attention to the heroic filibustering by which the Dems have been holding the line for all of us. Durbin IS great. And Leahy too. (I wrote letters to thank both of them.)
