Masters of the Pump-Fake
My husband has given me a new term to refer to The Mis-Administration's policy directives for social programs that do not meet their GOP ideals: Pump-fakes.

Shrub's No Child Left Behind, the AIDS crisis funding, and now job-retraining funding for community colleges are all grand pump-fakes. Bush says what Rove thinks the public wants to hear, then turns around and secretly directs DeLay and Frist to underfund or kill it.

Meanwhile George looks good standing tall with his arm cocked back, looking for the Hail Mary bomb when he only intends a lateral at best.

Do you like my hubby's analogy? He won't post himself. He wants me to cover all his DU activities for him.

1. Good analogy.
Bush also double dribbles and commits flagrant fouls, but he owns the referees and they never call his number.

2. Tell your husband that
I am the master of the pump-fake! (Just kidding)

He's obviously a basketball fan.

I guess having your wife post is a pump-fake, too.

But his take is dead on. Molly Ivins has written extensively about all of W's pump-fakes as Texas governor.

3. That's right on target
You can't even call it play-action. The nickel defense media gets faked out every time. They consistently come out with something that sounds good, it plays well in a news cycle, then turns out to be false after all. The follow up doesn't get publicized. Just like all their nice-sounding initiatives that don't get funded in the budget.
